Oh look.
It's this thread again.
And yet, with its monthly appearance, I am still unsure as to why this is an option that requires justification. Surely the reasons that people have to play as female Shep largely overlap with those to play as male Shepard. Seems logical to me, at least.
Oh Look.
Snide comment number 3.
Why do some take things so personal? I don't recall any poster directly referencing anyone. And let me check....
Yup! EVERY thread has been posted umpteen times and will be again. I'll send ya a K Cup for twisting your arm to read and post in the thread. Revv? Kahlua? Name your poison.

In my case, to make my second play-through different from my first. The more you can customize your character (gender, looks, personality, class etc) the more times you can play through and the game will feel different, adding to replay value.
I've played ME1 upwards of 10 times, double that for ME2, and all with the same character. Same Choices, same everything, and still loving it. I think the only time I drastically changed one of my playthroughs is when I switched my canon LI from Miranda to Liara.

I like strong female characters in videogames.
this
but also, the question why do you play as femshep is the same as if I asked you why do you play as maleshep,
answer: because I want to
there is nothing else, it's like: why do you wear green socks? and not blue socks?
I am a male and I play femshep, why'd you even asked? would it be different if I was a girl? and played as femshep?
I don't get it

1) I like her voice acting better
2) If im gonna spend 20+ hours, playing through all three games, I might as well be looking at a woman
1) Matter of opinion. Personally, I think Hale is a ****** poor female version of David Caruso.
2) That's a lame reasoning. You can play male Shepard and look at Miranda.
1) He said "I like" so he is obviously only stating his opinion.
2) You cannot keep looking at Miranda forever. However you do always look at your playing character, male/female Shepard.
2) Oh yes you can

Because Jennifer Hale is awesome and I like things with a strong female protagonist, even though I, myself, am male?
Gender equality, yo.
Pretty much. Also not a fan of Mark Meer. He did, admittedly, get better but if I have to listen to a protagonist over the course of 100+ hours of combined game play... I'd rather it be Hale.
Really, it's just that simple folks.
Though, I do wish that FemShep would learn to cross her legs when she sits in a dress.

In a 3rd person shooter, like resident evil 5, borderlands and mass effect 3 or an RPG like Diablo games and Phantasy Star Online, if I can pick a women, I will.
- First of all, they are usually the stronger, the more nimble and the more "power" oriented characters in any game
- Second, if I am going to stare at my characters back side for the hole time, might as well enjoy the view!

It's been said many times in this thread, but I'll echo it anyway: Jennifer Hale. That is all.
Yep, this.
Plus, since I love David Weber's Honor Harrington character in his books, it's a natural fit for me...
At least we got a choice in the matter, unlike many other RPGs!
