I don't really give a motts to these speed runs or anything, at one point I considered it but... eh who cares?
My point is this, and I say this on neither side because I don't give a motts, if you're posting up speed times and having the fastest time and spreading it around, you're not really leaving BSN alone are you? If you wanted to be left to your own devices, you wouldn't post it up and shine the stick for your ego really would you?
As for challenging a group to a speed run - why? What does it prove? It proves nothing except you're trying to be better than them. Maybe they scorned you? Maybe you didn't like their routine? Who are you to 'challenge' them?
Anyway, I'm going back to browsing, I'll probably get flamed but ah well lol
We post our videos in hopes of gaining more members that enjoy the teamwork and the fun, not for the ego. The Glacier runs that were done were a fun competition some of the group had with the PC players, but it seems the PC players are no longer interested and we aren't attempting any records on that map anymore.
People that enjoy the videos have joined up and many of the "veteran" members have given lessons and tips to help them. I am personally only going to post in certain topics that involve players tired of the horrible pick up games and off topic threads such as the IRL thread and that is another thing I hope the group does. Our group discussions are much more enjoyable then the threads that pop up on this site anyways IMO, so we wouldn't be missing out on much at all.

As for the challenge, it was more of a suggestion than anything, if Team Arelex did it, great, if they didn't, no problem, it's not like we're questionning their skill...

So AreleX and the group teaching players actual teamwork is acting high and mighty? Get over yourself, we are simply tired of the stupid and tedious challenges simple as that and we are finally putting our foot down. This isn't funny either, it is simply just annoying and your "goading us"(learn to spell by the way) just makes you look childish and foolish.

then you have the majority of people presuming they know something about us or me, and speaking on our behalves when they really don't know a damn thing. once again, it gets old quickly.
i don't leave my group thread unless someone prompts me to check something out elsewhere on the forums. i'm perfectly happy in my group, because it's a fun, chill place full of people who are easy to get along with. no pointless bickering, no whining, no arguing, just helping others, learning, and fun. i could do without the rest of BSN, to be quite honest. the part i enjoy the most isn't even speed-running, it's teaching the game to the members of the group so they can have more fun with it. call me a snob or arrogant or what have you, but the people i actually give a damn about know better than that.

We do plenty of weird stuff, look up some up the vids like the Reaper/Glacier/Gold all Vorcha using only Flamer run. Or the all Quarians using Arc Pistol on Hydra/Geth/Gold. How about our all Asari Goddess/Platinum run? (enough examples for you?)
It isn't much of a suggestion if you put your title as "Dear AreleX and team, a challenge to you." It is more an attempt to call us out in public (rather then pm'ing any of the members to see if we were even interested) since you made a thread directed at this group in particular.

Yeah, all Flamers runs are fun as hell. And now we know that you prefer PMs. Problem solved.

Ok, my hands are up. You make a fair point and I see where you're coming from. Though on the other side of the fence what you may see as a shining achievement and would like to recruit, there are many unfortunate souls who feel the need to drag you down to their level because they can't do it, or they don't like it, or something along those lines.
I retract my opinion on that front! I still question the OP making the challenge though =D

also, saying things like 'we can't beat you at your own game'? like, we've never heard of you, we're not competing with you, why are you challenging us? i just don't understand.
the irksome part isn't the challenges, it's the ways people convey these challenges to us. the last group we thrashed came into our group thread talking a bunch of s**t about how bad we were, and how we couldn't do anything outside of glacier, etc. basically in the thread to stir up trouble. is that the best way to foster relations? no. is having one of your friends (i already forget his name, collector armor avatar guy) go for the most base, unfounded, ridiculous insult in the book without even being provoked going to help?
that's the problem. nobody just hits us up and says 'hey, we wanted to challenge you guys to x, we think it'd be a lot of fun, would you be interested?'. it's always a big dramatic production number, and we're not with it

It helps people learn the maps and I'm pretty sure there a fairly large group. If you want them to leave BSN alone, then you go ahead and create a website and pay for it,OK:happy:Kyle Dei wrote...

to respond to jay: we do all kinds of random runs for fun (i.e all batarian soldiers with eagles vs reapers on platinum, etc). what we don't like is people throwing random boring challenges in our faces. if you want to work something out, pm myself or bechter or relix. don't go starting a thread that's going to bring a whole bunch of negativity and trolling into it.

Sure, next time we want to do some weird stuff, we'll PM you, relix, or bechter in advance. Like I said, we're not trashing you and your team, we just want to get more enjoyment of the game.

we exist as a group to have fun and help each other, not so we can constantly have ridiculous 'challenges' forced upon us with a mix of insults and condescension. we hold the speed run records for many things. how about you try and beat those?
...I'm suddenly glad I didn't join your little group. Arrogance like this is unbecoming.

second, the rule for speed runs has ALWAYS, since the beginning of mass effect 3 speed runs, been that no vid = no proof.
third, we do indeed hold many records. where do so many people get off trying to challenge us to new ones? doesn't it stand to reason that instead of challenging record-holders, they try to break the records we've already set first?
i'm perfectly fine with you not being in the group, your lack of understanding would be hard to tolerate. not even understanding, had you continued to read the thread, you'dve found things extrapolated upon, but you find the first thing you can pick at and use it to make a slick comment. no love lost here.

Take it as you will, it is more that we are just tired of the tedious challenges and they defiinitely came at us the wrong way if they wanted our attention.
First off, we have no idea who these players are and they put a challenge out directly to us in a public setting (which we do not appreciate, we have other things we are focused on at the moment). Second, it proves nothing to us when we know we can do the challenge, it just isn't something we want to do. Third, if you have a problem with his second point that has always been the rule of speed runs (must have video), there are far too many things that can happen that needs more proof.
It is honestly your loss, but having these types of things happen all the time are really getting in the way of us focusing on our group as a whole. It cuts back on time better spent helping players new to speed runs (and real teamwork) and actually sucks the fun out of the game for us as we are always called out to prove ourselves (which we have done time and time again). Sorry you feel it is arrogant, but if you were to deal with this type of thing daily (or close to it) you would eventually get tired of it and respond the same way.
On that note, I am done and thank you to Jay and Kyle for being more understanding about it. I also apologize if I came across wrong to anyone, but I enjoy this group a great deal and they are the only reason I still play and enjoy this game, so I will defend the team's name when people bad mouth it.

There is nothing for you to prove. the people who issue the challenges are only trying to "beat" you, by giving these rediculous challenges. It's the only way they can.

exactly, we have nothing to prove to anyone, yet the entirety of the bsn community reverts to kindergarteners and points at us going 'what, you SCARED?!' when we simply don't want to do an obnoxious run. we give in, and that just emboldens the next group of people to throw an asinine challenge at it. we're damned if we don't, damned if we do, just because some people here are hell-bent on making us out to be the bad guys for some unfathomable reason. i have done more for the bsn community than all of the people who have taken the time to say something negative about me put together, and it doesn't make a difference. people will say what they will.
we have nothing against challenges, but the way you challenge us and the reasoning behind your challenge has a lot to do with how receptive we are of it.

I'm part of a top guild in another game. We get hate just because people see us high on the list; we get praise for shallow reasons too. 'It comes with the territory.' If we see people being idiots or jerks toward us for no reason, we have a laugh about it amongst our own community--people can think what they want, but we know who we are. I'm not sure why it affects you so much.

I'd say it is because we all come from the same "community" which has no community feel to it anymore. I know when I first joined the site there were tons of helpful members and threads that popped up. Now it is always some sort of bickering and people hating on our group that has tried to restore that community feel within it. People bad mouth us or make a negative image by challenging us and making us look "scared" when we just don't have interest and it could push away potential new members that would have been interested in learning before.
Edit: AreleX has helped TONS of members including myself and he takes pride in the image of his group. I used to PUG almost exclusively when many of my friends stopped playing and I went from a feeling of needing to carry and basically solo to having a solid group of players that I can enjoy playing with. I know I for one would have stopped playing this game if I had to deal with the frustration of PUGs still and I am very grateful for the group.
