Bored to tears with Miranda talking about her sister. I think her limited conversation skills would bore the reapers to death.
(Joking. A little)

Batarian. Screw any other non-logical answer like ME2 squadmates cuz they're never coming back and people should just accept it and hope they will be temp squadmates instead. Batarian on the other hand is something new and fresh.
OK, don't get mad, we get a Batarian with Biotic God as a sidekick.

So, to hell with characters who are already decently established, have the artwork done, and already have voice actors, but let's make up a completely new character who will need art, backstory, and voice work done for? Oh yeah, that's totally logical. Besides, there aren't a ton of Batarians around. Besides, why a Batarian? Hanar would totally be better if we want a "fresh" squaddie. Batarians are jerks anyway.

He could be recruited after the whole scene on the docks, if he survives.AsheraII wrote...
Someone like Conrad Verner wouldn't work for that reason: you already meet him on the Citadel, so a DLC would be kinda awkward, since you could end up having him on your ship from the DLC, and then meeting him again "for the first time" on the docks.
He could do one mission, a minor one, find out he's not as tough as he thinks he is, and spend the rest of the time in the observation lounge swapping war stories with the squad or photobombing Allers Battlespace reports.FlyingSquirrel wrote...
Realistically, I don't see Conrad Verner or Gianna Parasini being credible in a firefight. And really, the whole point of Conrad's character is that he thinks he's more competent at dangerous work than he is - bringing him on board the Normandy would pretty much throw that out the window.

Since there's no content involving him anywhere else (because they killed him early in ME3), he would be free to join Shepard and help his/her cause without plot changes. Also, no one remembers his death so there's no need to change dialogs, reactions and so on, just add him some new lines and that's it.

Just my opinion. No need to, you know, spread it around.

I don't agree that ME2 squadmates are just out like that... Miranda, Mordin (if he survives), Samara, Kasumi, and Zaaede all have easy ways to right them back in if Bioware wanted to actually try and make better connections between this supposed trilogy. Hell, even Jack and Jacob could be written back with some creativity.
I really don't want any more new squadies... I didn't want any new ones for ME3 to begin with. It should have been familiar faces. That is why I don't mind EDI, at least she was a presence in ME2.
So... in short: Miranda.
The problem with introducing ME2 squadmates as permanent squaddies is that it creates far too many variables for the ambient dialogue on the Normandy. The number of permutations that would determine who talks to who, or hell, what could be discussed with Shepard would simply take far too much time and resources and memory for the limitations EA set.
I mean, sure... every single thing every fan wanted could have been accounted for had EA been willing to wait five years and have a four disc set. But I think you'd be hard pressed to find ANY publisher willing to do that.

There was a mention somewhere in the game of a newly discovered species that just made contact with the council races before the reaper invasion, that were keeping out of the war effort in an attempt to avoid drawing the reapers on themselves. A news report or codex entry or something, I can't remember exactly. That would make the most sense. No need to tie the character in to the events of previous games and it would help re-introduce some of the much-missed feeling of exploring and learning new stuff about the galaxy, both by learning about his/her/its culture and him/her/itself and by his/her/its take on the status quo as an outsider. You know, Star trek rather than Independence day.
A new species for romancing, you say?

Before ME3 was released I had always thought that Aria was going to be our day 1 dlc squadmate until I saw Javik's picture then I was like "ahhhh crap" lol
So now Bioware needs to get it done for real this time!!!!!

As others have said a Batarian, or Miranda would also be nice. And maybe Schells? Well okay maybe not as a Squadmate, but it would be nice to see what he's been up to. And since Kirrahe can die, how about Rentola? He was involved with Mordin and Maelon and their work on the Genophage so seeing him around the events on Tuchanka wouldn't be that out of place.
