This is a community thread. Everyone so far shared their experience (ex: Yes I agree, or No I don't have an issue with it). That alone indicates that although it is an issue, it is not an issue that's affected EVERYONE greatly. We may have issues with lag but nothing that requires the removal of a map that some people (like myself), actually like and enjoy. I often select Rio for my Private matches because it's easy to navigate and have a lot of cover (for the most part in the Industrial/Port Sector).
We're here to share our experiences on the MP portion of ME3. There may be 2 or 3 unneccessary comments on the thread, but it is by your own will whether or not you'll ignore it, or take it to heart.
Please also note that anything that "addresses a real problem" should be forwarded to Bioware and Electronic Arts.

Until you all can figure out why so many people lose connection and have problems with the map.
At the very least, give us to the option when doing 'Unknown' maps to opt out of that one. It is 100% Bioware's fault and us users should not have to deal with it. I just had half my team drop from the map and then after the restart of the wave 30 seconds later I 'Lost Connection to Server'. This happens 50% of the time I play the map.
Please /sign with a reply.
I play a lot there and it never happened to me...

I know it's going to glitch when I can't biotic rush - and when I do, I teleport to the LZ.
Personally, I avoid Rio like the plague.

Also the distance that you are situated from your actual router in your house, and the distance you are situated from the actual internet exchange influences how frequently you DC.
Then there's the quality of your router, some internet companies make garbage routers, which drop connections really easily.
Perhaps run a diagnostics / speed test on your net, test out some of the above and try to find a problem on your end, because it is a problem with YOUR router / wiring / distance / machine / PC / connection, and not bioware's fault.

Happened just earlier today. Only the host and I were able to stay connected - the other two slots were a revolving door of people getting in, playing for a few minutes and getting disconnected. My game glitched out the whole match, but I was able to play so I finished. Couple times every round my hits would stop connecting no matter what I shot. Powers wouldn't work. Within about 20 seconds of this starting I would be magically teleported to the middle of the bridge that everyone likes to camp. Happened one or two times every round. The two of us extracted successfully with someone who had just joined in wave 10.
I understand the skepticism of people who haven't experienced problems, but many people do. Pay attention as this thread continues as you'll see more and more people post occasional but unique problems with this map. And by all means, stop being ****s.

Connection problems are huge, simple things from the host's connection / machine / PC to your connection / machine / pc can cause problems, its not one isolated issue that bioware can simply wave their wand at and fix i don't think. Hell, the polish guys i play with get disconnected all the time while visiting the store in a lobby, I'm only 1hr time zone away from them (so not a hug distance) and I never experience any problems.

I'm familiar with simple disconnections and that's not what plagues this map. It's not a problem unique to me or the OP. It's happened to myself and a group of friends while playing and when it happens everyone experiences the same problem - maybe not the host, not sure. It only happens on Rio. Just because it hasn't happened to you doesn't mean the issue doesn't exist. This isn't the only thread about this, nor will it be the last. Mark my words.
It's rare enough (for me at least) that I think removing the map entirely would be unfair to the people that don't have issues, but it should be looked into.

Well, be that as it may, you have the same copy of mass effect, the same DLC files, if you are on console you have the same machine as everyone else.
That leaves; PC components, geography and internet as the only variables which are causing this for you.
If it really is as widespread a problem as you are saying it would affect more people.
It seems to me a real shame that people encounter problems on this map, as Rio is a beautiful, well designed and challenging map, possibly the greatest bioware have come up with so far. The newer maps are a little more intense for bandwith / hardware than the original ones were, and that must be where the problem lies. Also, your host could be to blame?

If you read through some of those threads I just linked, you'll see mentions of the Xbox as well. Checking the profiles of people that say they've experienced the problem I see players from the Xbox within just a few posts.Annomander wrote...

Is it really so hard to imagine the map has a bug even if you haven't experienced it?

No matter how much Rio sucks (don't lie to me and say it doesn't), or any map for that matter, I very strongly doubt Bioware is going to remove it/them from the game.
