The problem is that it looks stupid. It also makes you look like a person who just buys packs and has no experience playing the game.

If you are an N7 who promotes, that means you are continually starting at level one with your characters, and it's far more challenging to do that and move up the ranks with low level character than it is to just sit on a level 20 character and make all sorts of commentary about higher N7 ranks. How about you try promoting all your characters and then starting from scratch with next to no health, barriers, powers, etc, except your ability to use a gun and general game skills like take cover or know when to flee or how to flank. Luckily a good bronze match (for me) can move me from a level one to maybe a 4 but still, that's a challenge that level 20s never face once they hit level 20. I'd like to the the ones who never promote and have been level 20 promote and lose all that health, power, weapon ability, etc and see how well that goes for them once they've been stripped down to survival mode. For a shooter, it wouldn't be as difficult though they would lose weapon damage and health/shields.

That said, I haven't leveled up since the Earth DLC since I decided itmight be fun to get really good with a chacter as opposed to starting over with level 1's every day.

Promoting is NOT all about vanity and epeen for some of us. I really enjoy leveling up characters. I have fun completing a map as a level 1 without dying, then leveling up 4 levels or so after the match.

Nothing wrong with promoting. Nothing wrong woth not promoting either.
What is wrong is using N7 level as the sole metric to measure an unknown person's skill in multiplayer.

Yeah, it's weird considering the N7 goes up for every gear/weapon unlocked, meaning he had to get reegar drops back to back and with few things else in between
lies
Maybe just mistaken. It does not matter how many packs are bought or whether it is credits or points. If no promotions are made the N7 will be 120. The guy could have played since launch and be doing solo plats.

That assumes you're playing your freshly leveled characters and your level 20s on the same difficulty level.starlitegirlx wrote...

Personally, I'm having a far easier time faffing about with a level 1 on bronze than with a lvl. 20 on gold. Lvl. 1s on gold though... that's a different matter.

I read it. He would have hated my Gold lobby last night. A level 120, one at 140ish, and one at 180. Great loadouts though, and credits in the bank.

Agreed. I used to promote all the time - it was a blast leveling when the game was newer. I've also stopped, especially now that I can get respec cards easier.

Ha a friend of mine went into a Gold game with a lvl 1 Asari Adept once, he outscored a Lvl 20 random who had an N7 of 2000+ by over 30K.
Honestly the N7 rank was the worst idea Bioware came up with in regards to Multiplayer, it causes more problems and unfair kickings than anything else.

So, i played a few matches on PC this morning before i went to work and i saw couple guys wielding level X (Maximum) rare weapons with only less than 200 N7 rank. Should it be possible? One of the guys had 123 rank if i remember correctly, Reegar Karbine and Arc pistol at X. Didn't take a screenie from the lobby, doh!
What do you think?
My N7 Rank is 270, and all my pre-Earth DLC rare weapons are maxed out, as it is visible on my manifest.
I don't cheat. I just promote only for the pack, and never more than necessary.
I hate promoting and re-levelling so I keep it at a minimum.
But I did play a lot.

I agree with both of these, I tend to promote when I fancy it, I enjoy the grind of levelling (RPG addict...) which may be sad but is true. N7 rank doesn't indicate as much as load out, as has been said before. I'm at 690 and I have yet to max my rare weapons and characters. I'm a decent player, but I don't over or underestimate people based on numbers.

I guess this is what happens when you combine an RPG type game with a Shooter type game. Us RPGers promote, the shooters realize its stoOopid.

Beyond 120, all N7 rank means is that you promoted (though 120 does mean you didn't promote for the events which required promotion.)

I'm still new so I'm always on bronze and it hadn't occurred to me that people would drop to an easier level to level up. For me, promoting is a challenge. Good point though!
