So, i played a few matches on PC this morning before i went to work and i saw couple guys wielding level X (Maximum) rare weapons with only less than 200 N7 rank. Should it be possible? One of the guys had 123 rank if i remember correctly, Reegar Karbine and Arc pistol at X. Didn't take a screenie from the lobby, doh!

What do you think?

I think you don't know how the game works. People who don't promote stay on a low N7 Rank but still can get all items maxed. Why are so many people thinking that N7 Rank means something? BioWare should get rid of this stupid N7 Numbers, they make people think they are better than others, or something like that.

N7 180 - Look at my Manifest. Low Level maxed Rares.

This took me a grand total of 2 seconds to realize the person in question doesn't promote.

I promote when I want to toy with a new build. I toy with new builds fairly often so my N7 is relatively high. I am no better or worse than an N7 120 because of my higher N7. The number is pretty meaningless in terms of judging skill.

The best way to judge skill is to watch someone play. Even seeing someone with an awful loadout could be a really good player that is so sick of the truly effective weapons that they are challenging themselves with alternatives.

N7 rating help with lobby acceptence, it's a first impression sort of thing. I used to stay behind at N7400s back when the game came out like a month or two, but then the standard become N7800s-900s, and I was N7720 for a while, but higher level guys keep leaving lobbies that I join.

So now I'm at N7900s, and it's alot easier to join game then before. Pretty soon it's gonna change again, hope not. Don't like promoting much myself either.

Since when are weapon unlocks tied to N7 level?

A) they didn't promote past 120, but played a lot
B) they spent a lot of real money on packs
C) why do you care?

If they're above 120, it just means they don't promote. If they were an N7 50 with a Typhoon X, then I'd suspect that something was very, very wrong.

Doesn't like promoting or spent a lot of money. Or both?

I dunno... I never really promote to get my n7 rank up. I usually promote to try out new builds on some characters. I also save up all my creds and usually spend them all at once for some reason, so I usually promote most (not all) of my classes when I usually go on a spending spree since I always get those character cards. Still no n7 demolisher though...

Lol no.

Also look at my manifest, I'm N7 120. I just don't promote, like those guys you saw.

Hah, I'm in the same boat, though you have about 10 more ultra-rare levels than me. Did you also skip out on promotionals out of refusal to promote?

Actually, no. I got the game after those events, so I couldn't get those promo weapons.

n7 330 right here and i think my manifest is pretty good. Quite proud of the maxed n7 units and Piranah x  without me spending a single bioware point. Don't really see the point of promoting anymore unless it's for an operation.

I'm still pretty much a noob compared to many here, I recently got to 120 and I have little or no desire to promote any of my characters. I don't play single player anymore, and I don't feel like playing with a low level character in bronze, until they are leveled up enough to play in Silver or Gold. If I need to respec, I've got a couple cards I can use. There is no incentive if you don't play single player anymore.

If you have decent weapons and gear, gold level 1 is perfectly doable.

I promoted just enough not to get auto-kicked from gold or platinum - 600's. That said, it means nothing

Loadout is a much more reliable yardstick for experience. Yes, random player could have paid a few thousand dollars (at 14% drop rate on PSPs, about $20 per UR level.... so about $2200) to max out all URs to get the Harrier X... or they could just play a lot. Which do you think is more likely?

N7 level doesn't necessarily mean anything. He could have been playing since launch, but decided to not Promote after reaching that particular level.

I've had the same thoughts run through my mind in the past - "How the f*ck is that guy 1/4th my level, but has all better stuff than me..?"

I guess they just buy packs with real money/Bioware Points.

That doesn't work.  I could be wrong but did try two purchases last weekend.  Even trying the workaround suggested.  Surprisingly, credit bought ones do.  I assume go through different server to validate.

But if they play a lot wouldn't the N7 be higher in that case?  You still get points for other things.   But I must admit I played with someone ranked 147 (and they had All the std weaps to lvl X plus several Ultra-rare's as well as several mods/char's to match)  I would add as a caveat they were not as good as what I'd imagine someone who'd worked to get them by natural progression would be, i.e. revived him/her 15 times on Silver.  They were a Vanguard and never used Biotic Charge once.

I've not been able to get on since the Op Olympus weekend, disconnects.  But now on again and there are a hell of a lot of new players some good/some not and you will always get those who don't want to wait for their stuff.  As you do in life.

Not necessarily. Promoting is optional.

Not cheating. Simply not promoting. Ya know, the thing this weekend event is trying to get everyone to do?

Your N7 level ONLY goes up when you level up, and once you hit 20 you cannot level up anymore unless you promote.

However, promoting is not needed. you could potentially have a maxed out manifest while still being a N7 level 20. By only playing ONE class the ENTIRE time and NEVER promoting...disturbing thought...

The ONLY reason i promote outside of these events, is so i'm not stuck in the relentless monotomy of all lvl 20's mowing gold.

Wow. People still don't know how promoting works and that N7 means jack ****. N7 increases as you characters' levels increase. Nothing more, nothing less. Levelling a character from level 1 to 20 increases your N7 by 20. Promoting adds an extra 10.
People don't like to promote, that's ok. I don't promote.
If you think it look stupid or it's wrong, then you are obviously either stupid or a N7 elitist
