I currently sit at 660, which is the N7 rating anyone would have if they leveled every class to 20 4 times. It will go up for the first time in months when I promote all 6 classes and level them to 20 again this weekend. Then it will stay at my new rating until the next weekend event that requires promoting.

Yes . Unfortunately the OP  shows a lack of gameplay experience -although hard to call the OP  an N7 elitist when they have  yet to unlock the Unwavering Acheivement award...

Unless it's a weekend event like Alloy, there isn't much incentive to promote for alot.

 i know you are 120, yet you have alot of gear and know alot of the game, so what is the point?
just wondering to be honest.

 Hi all, I just started playing ME3 MP a few weeks ago. Super fun! Been my most played game BY FAR.

I recently started promoting as I would get kicked out of hand when going into gold lobbies with a lvel 20 Asari Justicar with a rank 5 Arc Pistol. So, I have now started to promote.

I began reading this thread to decide on an N7 number that I may stop at. I was thinking 400, but now I'm leaning toward 600 hahaha. Sticking to more power based classes until my weapons get better. It's almost a relief for me now getting dropped into a gold game so people can't see my N7 .

N7 rating is currently in the 300s. I kind of wish they'd remove it and force people to check gear .

Anyways, just my 2 cents. I've enjoyed reading the BSN and it's definitely been a helpful reference guide for some of the more arcane game mechanics.

It may be more you dont have a rare weapon at X than your N7 level.

Really if Randoms in lobbies are kicking you for low N7, it shows they dont understand the game mechanics very well, and probably arent the sort of people you want to play with anyway.  re:  high N7ers using SMG ULM wrong, multiple heavy weapons on power-based classes etc.

Aww yes my weapon level not being 10. That does make sense. Most people have level 10 weapons in gold. Another month of playing then I guess

I will not take part in attempts to reconcile the e-peening system. I will not limit my character choice to be a part of this, and I will not waste my time rebuilding my characters, their skills, their appearances, their names. The promotion system is bad, and I won't entertain it whether you dangle rewards in front of my face or not.

I'm N7 150 and I have all my rares (apart from a few gears) maxed. You can even see this on my manifest.

It's possible too get some rares too 10 before the exp cards push you past 200 I never promoted once until about 3 weeks ago just didn't see the point now I'm at level 674 and I've only promoted maybe 3 too 4 times and have almost all even ultra rares too x the key is first buy all recruit till yoube maxed out all basic equipment then all vet till uncommon maxed out then premium skip spectre packs one premium gives you more golds than a single spectre but once you get all rares to ten save up like 4 million credits and then buy premiums otherwise you run into strings of buying like 20 premiums in a row without getting a single ur send me an invite if you want more info or help in platinum matches

I only recently played with a guy with n20. He wasn't bad (someone wanted to kick him but i saw his load out and rejected the kick) but we wiped on collectors due to 1 guy not using any equipment and ending up being deadweight.

Look at his character page. It is perfectly possible to have everything at level 20 but n20 if you never create a character in any of the classes.

I got a buddy who is n7 level 360 who has every thing maxed out except for a few weekend weapons, he just does not believe in promoting, after hearing him talk about it I quit promoting, whats the point? Of course I stopped at 2800 so it was a little late for me.
