Can I promote 2 same characters?
remember.. that's the entire class, not just the individuals within the class.
So the goal is 50,000 characters promoted, does that mean 50,000 classes promoted or when you promote a class does it count each individual character?
Just the class. So Soldier, Vangard, Adept, etc. ... not the 6 to 8 individuals within the class. So it shouldn't matter if you've only one person active in that class or if you have all of them.
For whatever reason, BW conciders the whole group for these (what I call a class) as a "Character". I think that was the problem we had with an earlier weekend mission a couple months back. We had a promotion limit se needed to reach and most thought it was the individual build.... not the entire group of class.
I think I hurt myself...

Chris, it would be great to get a direct response from you on these. Breaking it down....

Squad Goal: Promote 2 characters
Individual Goal Success: All members awarded a Commendation Pack
"Squad Goal" implies that you are actually a participant in a match. Does this mean we need to be in a lobby before we promote? Do we have to have just finished a match? - Or, can we simply boot the game up and go straight to the character screen and promote our little hearts out?
"Promote 2 characters"
- Part 1: There are 7 characters in each class. Say for example, I've unlocked 5 Vanguard characters. I have all 5 of those characters deployed (i.e. named and all powers specced) and at level 20. I click to promote that class which sets all the characters back to level 1. Did I just promote 5 characters, or just 1?
- Part 2: If meeting the Squad Goal as listed above requires promoting 2 characters, and you need to be in an actual lobby to be considered a squad -- then do at least 2 players need to be in the lobby doing 1 promotion each (in this case, I would think that it was meant to say promote 2 classes and not 2 characters)?
"Individual Goal Success"* - Which is it? A squad goal, or an individual goal? If it is an indiviual goal, then it has nothing to do with being in a squad, and therefore we dont need to have been in the lobby, right? Or does "individual success" mean that you, as an individual, participated in a squad?
* FTR, the in-game splash screen for the op says "Squad Goal Success" not "Individual"
I thought it was so simple, and now I'm waiting to press the promote button until I get a solid answer. I don't really want to promote anyone right now, but am willing to do it for the sake of the op. It would really blow chunks if it didn't count because I, and everyone else, promoted wrong, and the op is a big fat fail.
I too was laughing at how anyone could possibly need clarification for this op... until now. I'm smrt and stuff

If you level the same character to level 20 two times, sure.
Thanks

Just boot up and go. No need to be in a match lobby.jkthunder wrote...

Just one."Promote 2 characters"

You need to promote two classes, and it doesn't matter what menu screen you're in when you do so.- Part 2: If meeting the Squad Goal as listed above requires promoting 2 characters, and you need to be in an actual lobby to be considered a squad -- then do at least 2 players need to be in the lobby doing 1 promotion each (in this case, I would think that it was meant to say promote 2 classes and not 2 characters)?
"Squad Goal" and "Individual Goal" are sort of interchangeable for an operation like this, although I agree it makes things more confusing."Individual Goal Success"* - Which is it? A squad goal, or an individual goal? If it is an indiviual goal, then it has nothing to do with being in a squad, and therefore we dont need to have been in the lobby, right? Or does "individual success" mean that you, as an individual, participated in a squad?
You're overthinking it, honestly.I thought it was so simple, and now I'm waiting to press the promote button until I get a solid answer.

When I first saw this thread yesterday, I thought it was the most clear and easy op ever. Now, after reading some other posts in here, I seem to have accumulated more questions than I've had about any of the other ops

Well said, with very clear and justified questions for an otherwise simple Op; I'm in the same boat with ya.
Can we hear an official answer to those please?

I promoted my characters before the splash screen was up, but after the website said the operation was live. In addition, I promoted five classes, but that means I promoted 35 characters. Does this count? Will I get 17 commendation packs? Will someone give me a high five? How much longer until Half Life 3?
Yes, maybe, and soon™.
On another note, I can't tell if my promoting is actually working because I keep losing connection while doing so... <_<
Meanwhile I have to wait 5 minutes(!) for the splash screen to display. Again...

this operation is one of those time when most of the people plays and seems like ea server is too weak to handle it. so those server maintenance was for downgrading server with decreasing player-base?

Created my new Vanguard, Infiltrator, Engineer & Sentinel, ready to start levelling them up again. Played a game with the Vanguard, all good. Played a game with the Infiltrator, all good (if you consider Firebase Rio good). Selected the Sentinel, tried to find a game, waited and waited and waited and waited....... Tried another class, and waited and waited.... Anyway, couldn't find a game. Not even a FBWGG which I tried for a laugh. Created my own public lobby, nobody showed up. I don't even bother playing during the week, but if there's no one playing this on PS3 on the weekends now I might as well give up entirely. All of my friends who used to play this with me have slunk back to Uncharted 3. It's a pity.

Specifically, the blog & forum list Operation Alloy as being from August 24-26, with the end time listed as August 26th 5am MDT.
The 26th, however, is Sunday and if I read the countdown timer right it will reach zero at 6am MDT on Monday August 27th.
For the truly curious (or those with extreme OCD), it is currently just pass 7 pm PDT 8/24 as I type this (8 pm MDT). The countdown timer is reading just under 58 hours left, but 5am MDT 8/26 is 33 hours away...
