I really don't think they meant characters counting multiple times if they are same class. Promoting 1 character gives the same bonus as if you had each character customized in that class Otherwise promoting 1 class could count for 8 promotions. Clearly NOT what they meant.

Yeah, I'd say that if you didn't lose at least 38 character levels, you probably won't get a pack. Or if you didn't press the "promote" button more than twice, you probably won't get the pack.

I only promoted three. I was close with another but kept having terrible gold runs and gave up in frustration.

You don't get your packs right away.  You'll get the Victory pack tomorrow and the commedation pack tomorrow or Wednesday, thursday at the latest.

By substituting the word class in lieu of character you change the entire context, meaning you have to play two different classes. That is not synonymous.

I think there's a misunderstanding. What is nearly 100% likely is that you have to do 2 different promotions. I'm betting it can be the same class twice (as in level to 20, promote, level to 20 again, promote again) or two different classes, but if you just level say your infiltrator to 20 and you promote it with a male, female, and salarian, that will count as just 1 promotion rather than 3. I think what I said is what both of you meant.

Edit: By the way, only got 2 promotions myself. Just got the game so I did SP and MP over the weekend.

The point being you need two separate promotions. Having more than one chatacter leveled in the same class doesn't count as more than one promotion despite resetting all characters within that class. You need to relevel a character within that class from 1 to 20 in order to promote that class again for it to count as a second promotion. In essesnce and in effect "class" and "character" count as one and the same in the context of the rules for these weekend events.

The original question asked was regarding whether or not three characters within a class at the time of promotion counted as one promotion or three. In that context, it counts only as one. That poster did not meet the requirements for the commendation pack if he only promoted one class one time.

Managed to get 5 promoted, really pleased with that. Have a sixth on level 18 at the moment but my fingers needed an ice bath, heh.
