I really don't understand how people got confused by this. When you promote, you promote the character and the class. It's one for one. It's VERY simple. There needed to be 50,000 promotions total. It doesn't matter what character/class you promoted. You could have promoted the Vanguard class 6 different times (meaning you leveled up a Vanguard character to 20 six different times over the weekend) . That counts as 6 promotions. I promoted each class once. That was 6 promotions. Hopefully we made the goal.
Last time we did this challenge each character in a class counted as 1 promotion, in other words you promote a class and have all 7 characters set up that is 7 promotions.

Promoted 5 classes with 7 characters each thats 35.
Well, it counts as 5...
If it was class promotions yes it is 5. I had all characters set up in each class. If you remember the last time this challenge was run that is how it was done.

One the bright side, I promoted all the classes, so I can start over with some new builds I haven't tried, like my new Asari Vanguard, fun on bronze, I'll take her into Silver tonight

This is also how I read it. It's says promote 2 characters not classes. If you only have one character in a class then more than one class would need to be promoted however if you have seven characters in a class then promoting only one will suffice.
That said I've promoted two classes just to be sure

how do you guys still not understand this. we did this before. the class counts as 1 promotion, you needed to promote twice, either the 2 classes or the same class twice.mags314 wrote...

As I understand it, we had to promote 2 classes or one class twice, because you level up the class, not the caracter. So it makes no sense to have i.e. a Shadow N7 at level 20, then create 5 more caracters without needing to level up them and then count as 6.
Hope we made it, next time I'll try to do it better.

....no, you're wrong. The entire class counts as one promotion. It has never counted each character as one promotion.

We had literally this exact same issue last weekend, and we proved you "character not class" people wrong last time. Go back and look at the weekends and see Chris's clearifications if you must, just quit being stubborn. We know what we're talking about.

personally busted my butt on sunday and got three more after my squad goal was completed for a total of five class/character promotions.
really dont understand how hard it is to understand that if the xp bar is shared they dont count as seperate promotions. from 1-20 only takes about five hours if you're severely unlucky. did my infiltrator from 17-20 in a little over two with three silvers and a gold match and my vanguard was just a fun grind from 1-20 in bronze (kroguard ftw). my engineer (n7 demolisher) is just grenade happy on gold made it very easy to get to 20.
the only sad part for me is i lost the best n7 rating ever as after my squad goal i was at 666 rating, now sadly i'm at like 719.

I don't like promoting since they changed it from promoting a character to promoting a class. I had 3 Engineers maxed out and promoted the one I dont like to use, it promoted the class and reset all of them, Talk about B.S.
It has always been the case with promoting, i.e. you promote a class, not a character.
Furthermore, you level up the whole class, not a single character. For example, if your engineer class is at level 7, then all your engineers will be at level 7. If it's at level 20, all your engineers are at level 20.

I believe I get the jest of promoting, but I am confused about one thing...do you have to level-up your character up to level 20? If so I screwed-up big-time.
Your level up the whole class, not just a single character from the appropriate class.
For example, if your infiltrator class is at level 7, all your available infiltrator characters will be at level 7.
If it's at level 20, all your available infiltrator characters will be at level 20.

It wouldn't make sense for the goal to be so low if you could get 7 points towards it by only leveling up one guy. Totally class promotion.
Nothing we can do about it now anyway.
They are talking class promotions though they should have been clearer, it pretty much has always been the promotions means the class not all chars within that class, so if you had 7 soliders at level 20 it was really just one since the classes are what get exp and not the chars within that class, so hopefully you got more then one class promoted and so on,

I promoted one class with two level 20 characters, does that count?
No. you have to promote two level 20 classes, or the same class twice.

It never changed it was always the entire class that got promoted.
