Let's see, we have (wiki link)...
The end of Act 3 and the fight with Meredith > 1 year > events in Asunder novel > 2 or so years > seekers go to Kirkwall and talk to Varric (the very end of DA2) > some undetermined time > DA3.

Other than the depression aspect -- which to be honest I think Cullen is a stronger person than that, stronger than Samson at least -- he most likely would have gotten over any withdrawal by the time we meet him in DA3, unless he has just recently left the templar order. Add to that there is the fact that drugs in general, including withdrawal from them, affect everyone differently, and also the idea that some BSN threads have put forth of renegade templars making use of carta dwarves and their lyrium smuggling operations.

Good points. He could get kicked out just after Act 3 for insubordination, 9:37ish, or decide against following the non-Chantry templars after they split in 9:40. So many possibilities for what he did in the interim.

Anyhow, If or is that since we have Cullen then I think there is less chance of having Casssandra or Alistair as a companion.

Yeah, we won't get Alistair no matter what since he may have died in DA:O.

There's no way the devs would go to all that trouble for a companion only some people would be able to use.

Difference with that is we played as Shepard for 3 games, those were Shep's friends. In DA games we are a new protagonist every time. Making Alistair or any of the previous love interests a companion would cause too many problems. Some would moan that he/she is romancable when they're supposed to be with the Warden, others would complain that they aren't romancable. The import flags would probably glitch so Alistair or whoever wouldn't recognise he/she was in a relationship already and would try to hit on the new PC etc. too many variables. Besides Mike Laidlaw said they wouldn't be doing that because it would be too difficult to impliment and would like cause fan fallout.

Aww... I want to romance Alistair and Morrigan again, but I guess it's nice if you could introduce new LI to the game. I guess it wouldn't make sense if Alistair becomes romancable since I court him with my Warden. I hope they make up for it by introduce more LI to the game than just 2 for each gender.

If they kill off Leliana and Cassandra at the beginning of DA3, I would be so pissed off. Isn't that the storyline.. a get together and an explostion or something..

I hope so. I love the freedom to choose LI in Dragon Age 2.

i'd like to see him show up npc again because that's where he's likable. which i think is the reason why no one seems to want to stop the pathetic begging and nonstop squee.

i think actually making him a companion would diminish his likability, but...meh. whatever.

would i romance him if they brought him on board? no. because if you romance the blonde human males in these games, it doesn't tend to work that well, does it? death with a side of ethical dilemma? i already got two servings, thanks.

I think that's still a big if until the leaks are proven true. :shrug: I think it would be sort of a shame to kill off major characters so abruptly. But it would be dramatic! 

Agree that Cullen and Cassandra are probably mutually exclusive as companions, unfortunately, but we still have no idea who is really in. All we may "know" is that Cullen will appear in some capacity, based on GregEllis's tweets. Plus the only confirmed companion concept art includes a Seeker... So time will tell.

Thats what I ment about light hair I should have said white. We havn't had any with brown or darker in DA's. Not counting Seb.

Cullen's crush on my Warden mage was very cute.. And to see his character grow past his PSTD on DA2 was awesome. He can make a really interesting companion. And I want to be able to thank him properly for letting my mage-loving Hawke and her friends go 

How many Dragon Age characters actually grow and change as much as he does ? Fenris maybe but only because he falls in love with your Hawke. Cullen goes from mage hating to letting mages go free, without having a personal LI involved, just based on what he thinks is right. His character rocks! <3
