DA has never given us ladies anything other than males with blond or light hair not counting Seb, he don't count.

that's not true.  we also got a redhead who hears voices, a salty pirate queen, and the cutest Dalish elf ever to slash her wrists.  or...some of us did, anyway.

Who the heck is the Red head? We were speaking of Male LI's.

I'm thinking that person was talking about lesbian relationship with Lelianna, Isabela, and Merrill.

Agree that Cullen and Cassandra are probably mutually exclusive as companions, unfortunately, but we still have no idea who is really in. All we may "know" is that Cullen will appear in some capacity, based on GregEllis's tweets. Plus the only confirmed companion concept art includes a Seeker... So time will tell.

Actually, I think it would be kind of cool if you had to choose, a la Kaiden/Ashley. Cassandra or Cullen? Most of us like both of them, but most of us are hardcare fans of only one. So you could keep the one you love and still feel sad/moved at sacrifcing the other.

I want to romance them both. This would suck so much. :o

I'd love Cullen as a companion. Though I think I'm the only one here who never found him particularly attractive.

He'll probably start off as part of the anti-mage army under the rule of Lambert/his replacement. But maybe we'll be able to persuade him to fight for the Mages and/or join up with The Divine and her protégés.

And going a bit off topic here... But there are several other possibilities for companions.

Cassandra (as many others have said) - As a supporter of The Divine. Although, I get the feeling she is going to be a companion in DA3 no matter what.

Leliana - As a supporter of the Divine.

Both of these gals, along with Justinia V, can likely be convinced by the PC to support either the Templars or The Mages. Although it would be more problematic in the case of The Templars, considering their split from the Chantry.

Rhys and/or Evangeline - As pro-mages.
Cole - Neutral companion? That is if he/it is even still around at all.

Also, I'd love if they handled the Mage/Templar conflict like they did in the Witcher 2 with the Blue Stripes/Henselt's army and the elves/Saskia's peasant rebellion. Basically meaning you get two completely different scenarios (and in this case companions as well) based on which side you choose.

It might be hard for him to be made into a companion, but he is a good character. Especially if you've played a Mage Origin in the first Dragon Age.

It would also be nice to see him in some unique armour :). Other peoples' ideas of him being a renegade templar sound pretty sweet. Although, in how the game story seems to be playing out, Cullen might end up being in charge of the templar order XD.

Nope.. According to Dragon Age Asunder, just the opposite. Reasonable Templars are going to be killed or expelled

Well.. is my guess.. Evangeline was a sensible templar and she got arrested and had to escape. Lamberth, the big boss, cancels the templar/ chantry treaty and was hellbent on being a male Meredith. But Lamberth is killed at the end of Asunder so no one knows what will become of the templar order.

Lots of people want to romance Cullen. That's the bottom line and the biggest push I've seen for his character being included. Any plot relevance usually comes afterward as support for his character, but is an afterthought.

If they do include him, I hope he's not romanceable and that they focus on his character. I like him, and I'd actually rather see him NOT return. But if they do, I want them to do his character justice--not just have him included so that fans can jump on his pixels.

Yeah, sure, he's smokin' hot, but he's also got great potential as a non-LI follower...

Ahahah, I can hear the wails of the fangirls/boys now. "Nooo Cullen is finally a companion, but no romance!!"

While I like Brushy's idea of him being a total wreck, I'm not sure if fits with the timeline? We would have to know more about when Cullen actually leaves the order.

Let's see, we have (wiki link)...
The end of Act 3 and the fight with Meredith > 1 year > events in Asunder novel > 2 or so years > seekers go to Kirkwall and talk to Varric (the very end of DA2) > some undetermined time > DA3.

Other than the depression aspect -- which to be honest I think Cullen is a stronger person than that, stronger than Samson at least -- he most likely would have gotten over any withdrawal by the time we meet him in DA3, unless he has just recently left the templar order. Add to that there is the fact that drugs in general, including withdrawal from them, affect everyone differently, and also the idea that some BSN threads have put forth of renegade templars making use of carta dwarves and their lyrium smuggling operations.

You're forgetting that DA has been pretty intense in its insistence on just how bad lyrium addiction is.  I don't think you DO recover from withdrawal to lyrium.  Asunder makes the point even further.  Characters don't ever bring up lyrium withdrawal as something intensely unpleasant but ultimately temporary, but as something which ultimately drives you mad and possibly kills you.  Lyrium will do that to you on its own, but it appears that once you're addicted, your fate is sealed even if you do try to withdraw from it.  (And please let's not insinuate that only weak people succumb to depression, but this is just an aside.  The strongest person in the world can give in to despair.  As the expression goes, every human being is just one bad day away from it).

It all depends on plot armor really.

We don't actually know whether Lambert was killed or not.  Given that that scene was written such that we very specifically do NOT see Lambert die, I'd argue that it is quite likely we will see him again in DA3.

I think they left Cullen as a wild card at the end of the second Dragon Age. He seemed rather conflicted in his duty or, even maybe, what his duty actually is.

We might end up seeing Cullen as someone that the protagonist influences their character development like KotOR2 companions or Garrus in ME1 (and not just simply reveal the character as the player continues with the character's specific story -- actually change the outcome of who the character is -- similar to Morrigan and Alistair but to a greater extent and without the need for romance to affect the development).
