Ever seen people deliberately avoid helping on objectives?

I was just going the drone escort, and I had a teammate (well, two, really, but one was much more blatant) who seemed to deliberately go out of his way to avoid the drone. The drone went right by him and he wouldn't move 5 feet to step into the circle, even for 15 seconds or so.

Anyone seen this before? I mean, not caring about doing the objectives is one thing (and it's annoying), but people almost going out of their way to avoid them? I've never seen that before.

(Not surprisingly, the two who avoided doing objectives had the lowest scores, by a healthy margin, despite taking that extra time to try to farm points.)

Yes. I do it myself when I play with friends and a PUG and when we are farming experience points (silver only, never on gold/plat) : we let the PUG do the objective while we maw things. If the PUG don't do the objective, one of us do the majority of the objective while the remaining is left when there's only less than one minut left.

Yes, and on gold no less. Total refusal to go to the drone/ hack objective. Always leave a lobby after that.

Sometimes people don't realize it's an objective round until midway through, or I tell them. I blame whatever music their listening to while they play.  It's happened to me a few times.

Once on Dagger I walked the pizza all the way back to the wrong LZ. PUG Russian teammate got very upset with me. D:

Yeah, and when people do this I ignore the objectives too.

It's not like I need the credits.

I do it only to draw the enemy away from the objective. Otherwise I help on the objective.

I often won't enter the circle. I play as a squishy class (GE) and being "in" means I'm a target that dies. I'm a lot better off outside the circle using the drone and chain overload as crowd control keeping people out of the circle off the escorts.

Yes. If they don't come voluntarily I'll ask over voice chat to get into the circle. I find that almost always works.

Pizza Delivery, Level 1, in Bronze or Silver. Grab objective, take first one back, grab second, kill everything till i've got 30 seconds left, take two steps and i'm in the zone, objective complete, exp farm, complete.

Happened to me in silver a while back. I was the only one in the hack circle. I got so pissed at one point I had to turn on my mic and yell at the others to get into the hack circle. ONLY one other person got into the hack circle. Needless to day after that objective when the phantoms came, she went stab happy. I got shanked first then one by one everyone else got shanked. Karma's a **** ain't it?

Well it depends on the objective. With the drone I would help more often than not. However, some times it is better to act as the distraction/decoy on the opposite side of the map. I know I hate it when people try to "help" me deactivate the nodes or carry the pizza.

I've done it when my goal is XP and it's bronze. Silver, I still think the reward is small and I still want XP, but I usually play along.

Deliberate, not sure. Clueless, most defiantly.

I help on hack and drone, but on pizza deliveries and node activations I tend to not do that. The reason for it is really simple: Act like a living decoy. If you do not kill the enemies, but draw them close, they will not respawn and mess with the activation objective. If the next objective suddenly spawns nearby, enemies ought to be clustered enough for an easy Cobra. If it doesn't, you just let the team disable peacefully while you hold the line.

If it's one of the 4-object objectives, that tactically makes a lot of sense. (In fact, everyone ganging up on the objective only draws the enemy's attention to it.) But when it's a group-hack or a drone escort, there's no reason not to help.

Especially when it's right next to you. :pinched: That's the worst part: it passed right by both of them. It's not like they were pinned down across the map.

I was tempted to. Except I do want the credits. (I settled for refusing the rez either of them instead. =] )

If on an escort and I'm a SE, I'll run off for a second to place a decoy. This is really helpful for platinum. If done right (and you're lucky), the escort is easy peasy.

On platinum during the 4 in the hack circle objective we always have 3 people stick together and draw off enemies while 1 or maybe 2 upload. It is the only way to complete that objective on Glacier a lot of the time (unless it is downstairs).

I see it a lot. People not helping with drones/hacks or to cover people during delivery or a hack 4.

If my connection to the match is spotty, I'll avoid doing the delivery myself since there's a chance of a disconnect.

Played a bronze (lol) match the other day on Glacier where no-one was doing the objective on any of the waves.

Two hack circles and pizza.

On both hack circles (in the "basement") none of the other three players ever showed up. On top of this, they all proceeded to go down halfway accross the map. I ran out to revive them a few times, but realized we'd run out of time if I didn't continue the hack. Ended up soloing the end of every wave after wave 6. I refused to pick them up after that (still had 15+ revives anyway)

One of the guys was an N7 700+ :/

It's pretty annoying when it ends up doubling the time it takes to get through it.
