Do you think DA3 is Bioware's last chance to keep the fans of their older games interested?

It seems as if one is expecting another Black Isle style RPG experience from BioWare, then that probably isn't coming. As for DA3 being some "last chance"? After TOR, DA2, and ME3, I think many people might be beyond giving BioWare another chance. Thats not to say I'd never buy another BioWare game ever again, but they're no longer a safe buy for me.

I'm certainly not pre-ordering DA3 or entertaining the thought of buying it until quite a few trustworthy reviews, impressions and a good playable demo has been released. And thats only from the game side of things. If its limited to or requires Origin or is filled with preorder DLC nonsense or microtransactions, that'll make it even easier to forget about.

Personally, I'll keep a cautious eye on DA3, but I don't have any high expectations for it. The biggest problem I see for BW is that they keep rushing their games and no one wins w/ that mindset.

If many gamers could control their impulsiveness then yes, I would say that.

The bitterness in the fandom and the fact that it's largely the DA2 model, with the same people in charge, has drained a lot of my interest regardless of how the 3rd game turns out. People fighting about "freeing the mages" and how gay or not the characters are, blecchh. Not my idea of what games should be about.

I'm not preordering anything by Bioware again for a long time, I can tell you that much. Heck, from now on, I'm probably going to wait and have the ending spoiled just to make sure it's worth letting myself get emotionally invested...

I'm talking about what preoccupies the fandom.  Other people might see gaming as a platform for social crusades, but it's pedantic and the soap opera drama is tiresome.

Will likely pre-order DA3, and avoid m/p scenarios with Haters....

No, I don't - I think a good chunk of you people are all talk when it comes to "last chances", and will in fact preorder DA3 and be there to pick it up on release day, along with Day 1 DLC which you'll buy and download immediately thereafter.

I'd like to see the bulk of you put your money where your mouth is for a change, and not in the pockets of the companies you claim to despise, yet can't stop purchasing games from.

I don't think so. I believe BioWare can continue to produce new and exciting games for its fans. Older games like NWN still hold my interest, (even though the graphics suck compared to the advancements made in the last decade or so) simply because of the fantastic story. What the producers need to do is take some time to really think out a game, and not try to rush things when they don't need to. The true fans will continue to buy games and recommend them to their friends, so BioWare need not worry about its fanbase. They haven't lost me yet!

If they say "Best place to start" even once, I am not touching this game till a price drop.

Ah, I always feel empowered by Elhanan's posts - we're not just "haters", we're Haters™. It's an official title, and the act of "hating" a profession.

If anyone thinks they have what it takes to be a Hater™, please forward your applications in to me - if you qualify, I'll be sure to get back to you shortly.

Until then, keep on chuggin' dat Haterade.

I agree. Let's hope for everyone's sakes that they do take their time and put a product out that they are truly proud of. I love the Dragon Age universe and want to continue playing.

From what I read DA3 is expected to come out late 2013 or early 2014. Hopefullythats enough time to make a great game

I'm never pre-ordering again I'll tell you that much. But I will judge their next games on an individual basis and reviews unlike before with DA:O, DA 2, ME 2 and ME 3.

I have to agree with, greengoron89. I think I am still too positive. But I am training. Once I am ready, I will PM him as soon as possible.

I have a feeling Dragon Age 3 is basically the end for Bioware. Dragon Age 2 & Mass Effect 3 seemed to have destroyed the company's reputation as a game developer, while SWTOR was a financial **** up. Also, these games had sold from both being the sequels to popular titles and having a massive hype around them. This release will be the sequel to Dragon Age 2, a game with an extremely polarized reception. With the marketing failure from the Mass Effect 3 endings ( 16 different endings being three nearly identical ones.), it would seem that more people are going to wait a bit before buying DA3. Even if the game was great, I still feel it would have less buyers due to Bioware's reputation.

It's difficult to hate ALL games made by a specific developer.

Even the truely terrible game studios can produce one or two decent games. Like EA Black Box and Treyarch.

Given that co-op was in what I read about, DA3 is going to be awful. It will just be like ME3 where all they do is put stuff out for the multi-play and the single player game is crud.
