I decided to come back to DA:O after a long absence, maybe finally finish Awakenings. I was shocked to find that all my saves, as well as the DLC content which I had paid for and which still shows in my 'registered game content' list, was GONE. I wasn't able to find a match for this problem in the forums, so I'm hoping BioWare is listening and has some kind of solution. While the loss of the saves is annoying, I'm more concerned about all the DLC. How can I get back everything I bought?

I suspect these are two different issues.

DLC: Patch 1.05 deals with authorization issues to the game. If you have not installed it, please do so, then launch the game and log in. Your DLC should authorize and they are not on your machine, they should begin downloading. Also, note if your login password has non-standard characters... anything by numbers and letters... the DLC will not authorize. This is a flaw in the system but easy to correct by changing your BSN password to include only letters and numbers.

Missing Saves: There could be a number for reasons for this. Characters are saved in the My Documents> Bioware > Dragon Age> Characters folder. If you've reinstalled Windows, reinstalled the games on a new computer, etc, you saved games would not follow unless you manually backed them up.

Also, a few users have reported issues with the EA Origin download client... apparently the newest update to EA Origin may erase some saved games. If you suspect that this has happened, you should contact EA support directly at help.ea.com.

I had suspected that patch 1.05 might be the issue as well, but as the game was downloaded via Steam it will not allow me to install it. I tried the 'verify came cache' function there, to no effect. It is set to update automatically. Is a reinstall required, or would that do as much harm as good?
