Wow seriously, great stuff. Actually feels like a *gasp* "community". But a lot of what I've learned is from chatter in lobbies. So I just thought it would be a good idea to bring that chatter here. Thanks everybody

Might've been said already, but the term is 'soft cover', I believe.

Find a wall/building/object that's tall enough to fully stand behind. Instead of using the everything button to get into cover mode, just stand behind it and place yourself so that your left side is guarded by the wall/object and your crosshairs lie just beyond it. You'll be able to fire at enemies without exposure to yourself.

This has worked at least since ME2 and possibly even before that. It can really make the game quite a bit easier.

Example:  (right-click -> view image to see the crosshairs)

Aside from a few of the niche weapons, the Armor Pen mod is the best utility attachment in-game. It significantly reduces the threat which mid-level troops like Pyros, Brutes, and Guardians pose. I never run without AP mods on the weapons which can benefit from it, and I never regret the choice.

Smart Choke does nothing for the Reegar Carbine.

You *can* get head shots with the Reegar, despite the fact that it shoots electricity flamethrower style.

Not a tip, but I'm looking for one. Every now and again when I'm playing, I see an enemy that has gone completely red and has two semi-circles outlines framing them. I've seen it while playing as different characters and I know it's not one of my powers so I'm just wondering what power it is and what does it do?

Sounds like the Quarian Male's Tactical Scan. It provides debuffing against the target and allows all players to see it anywhere on the map.

Also, the health/barriers/armor/shields are represented by those "semi-circles."

Which is helpful when the target is behind smoke or cover.

Don't use a magazine upgrade with the Particle Rifle. It doesn't increase the amount of shots fired before it overheats and is a waste of an upgrade slot

Really? It does in Single Player.

This is not true. A mag upgrade with the PPR DOES increase the number of shots before overheat and is basically essential if you ever use the PPR.

Also, if you're getting shot while being synced, occasionally you'll die from that damage and just drop to the ground before the banshee (etc.) can finish their auto-kill.

And everyone wonders why I like Marauders so much :P

Shouting out to your team, ''TEAM, ATTACK ALL THE ENEMIES, THAT IS AN ORDER." doesn't
make them more effective, so the loading screen which states, "Squad members do more damage
when ordered to attack specific target." is a lie.

Be sure also to dismiss the screen telling you how to hijack an Atlas since you can't do it in MP. You think Bioware could stop trolling us on the MP side of the game. The whole RNG thing is bad enough....=]

Learn how to use acolyte.

200% cooldown only really matters on TB characters.

*you can double stack equipment if off host...meaning equip 2 gears or 2 ammo powers simultaneously but you can only use 4 total. To do so spam "A" (Xbox) and up and down while in the equipment selection screen. I don't know if this is cheating or not, I don't do this often at all. I imagine Bioware is aware of this and it will likely be patched in the near future. If they are not intune to this exploit they will be soon...

Saw someone today rolling a Salarian Engineer with a Typhoon. That was... not the best synergy ever.

I can vividly see a SE being pushed backwards due to his high squishy/low mass makeup while getting that beast up to full speed.

There is no reason to hoard your amps. Once you hit the cap of 255 you will STILL receive those amps in packs, but will lose everything over 255 once you log out.

Don't know if this is true for all systems, but on PS3 you won't get any more equipment once you're maxed at 255. When I buy Jumbo Equip packs while maxed, it hands out gear instead of the '5 thermal clip packs', or whatever I have 255 of.

It WILL hand you the 5 packs if you have less than 255 though - so if you have 254 of something, you'll get the '5 packs', but it will obviously only increase the count by 1.

This is true. See patch history.

It might be different for amps, amos etc than the activated consumables. I don't have anywhere near 255 of thos so I can't say but that is what the original poster specified. I mean what would you get in a pack if you had absolutely everything maxed?

Yup, the basic consumables will properly cap out, but not the ammo, weapon and armor modules.

hiding in cover gives you damage resistance, it will stack with your damage resistance abilities (such as tech armor) but with diminishing returns.

if you get hit by a banshee warp you can survive it (when it would normally kill you) by taking cover.
