I'm normally a PC gamer but I've decided to invest in a console as well since I'd like to be able to tap into both resources.
But being new to this console world I have know idea which one is prefered: the PS3 or the Xbox 360...?
Anyone convince me?

If you do a lot of split screen playing with other people that want to be able to unlock achievements and stuff when playing online with you on the couch, get a 360.
Otherwise, get a PS3. Online play is free, and don't believe the haters/fanboys, it's not laggy. It's the same as Xbox LIVE. I know, I have both systems. Not only that, I've found that the PS3 has a more diverse set of exclusives. The 360 has great ones, but it's more of a shooter market with games like Halo and Gears of War being the most popular exclusives available. On PS3 you have stuff like Uncharted, Gran Turismo, Metal Gear Solid 4, and a lot more. Plus, for games that come on multiple discs on 360, they come on one for PS3 cause it uses bluray. Like ME2 and 3 and one disc on PS3. That may not seem big, but for a game like FFXIII that comes on 3 discs on 360, having it on one for the PS3 is pretty convenient. There are some times when the PSN is down for maybe a day or a few hours, but it really isn't that annoying at all. And it's necessary to keep the online service free, whereas with XBL it costs more than the price of a new game for a year's subscription.
All in all, unless you are really into local multiplayer I'd go with a PS3.

Definitely a Wii. Anything an xbox or playstation can do, your PC can do better.

I got an xbox last year rather than a ps3. More of my friends play on xbox so I'm pretty happy I went that way.
The game prices are the same between the 2 but as mentioned xbl has a subscription fee. You maybe need to look at the social side of it and which console exclusive games you're more interested in.

Now is a bad time to make an investment in a new console. If you have a Working gaming PC right now I would wait until about this time next year.

As an Xbox gamer let me say one thing: Don't buy an Xbox 360 unless you REALLY care about good online interfaces. If exclusive games are more your cup of tea definitely buy a PS3.

Lol, how I didn't catch the irony in what I said I have no idea. From the little bit I've played of PS3 games I'd get that just off of the amount of exclusives alone though. I have both the PS3 (not the slim) and XBox (new 250GB), and my PS3 has been relegated to BluRay and 3D watching only. The PS3 exclusives are great, but for everything else, I've found XBox to be less buggy. Especially with Bethesda games.

i got a 360 slim:250GBS its pretty damn good.but if you do online gamging and investing to do on the 360 id wait for the next xbox console which appearently comes out earily next year, so you might want to hold off.unless you dont care you could get one for a good cheap price now.
most PS3 people i know only use it as a movie theather system now
see which games are on both systems, which ones have better performance ratings and less issues being unreadable and such.

I went though 3 Xbox 360's, rage quitted, and got a PS3. The PS3 doesn't ****ing break every other month like the (mulitple) Xbox 360's did.
Plus, the PS3 has the Uncharted series.

Get a 360. It has the best price point, achievements, a better online service, better exclusives, a very comfy and ergonomical controller.
