Is it Just me, or is this more about camera angle than game-size ?

I just wondered whether anyone else thought the same thing.
Because you play this game in a kind of 'over the shoulder' style most of the time, the locales seem smaller than they do in an isometric 'map' style RPG, with smaller characters moving through what looks like a bigger area on the screen, which is the tradition which this game hails from.
The result is that the maps seem smaller even though content-wise they are probably just as big..does anyone else think this or am I just imagining things ? sorry if im not explaining myself very well..

It can go both ways, actually, but when the p[layer's viewpoint is as it was in BG2, for example, you have a greater view of the places you enter. Almost map-like understanding of the size of spaces.
Then again, I do think that many places are actually smaller than similar ones in previous games.

yeah, I just suspect that in the older style games it was easier to visualise 'huge' area's because they were spread out before you like a map, whereas with the over the shoulder view you can only ever see the area that the camera is pointing at. Ironic that something which makes the game more realistic also can make it seem more 'normal'..

For me, not seeing everything at once usually makes a game world feel larger.
For instance I made a mod eliminating Oblivion's infinite view distance. Not being able to see the White Gold Tower everywhere I went made Cyrodiil feel like a larger and more mysterious place.
Often when I open my world map in this game I usually feel a little depressed at how small the area really is. The area usually feels larger when I'm running around in it. So I rarely look at my map, unless I absolutely have to.
