Question: Is it true that most of Rock and Metal fans, dislike Rock'n'Roll, Jazz and Country?
I can only speak for myself. I can dig jazz, classic rock, and even country, depending on the song. You can find pieces of those in Hard Rock/Metal music.
In terms of Likes and Dislikes:
Like -Metal(Industrial & Thrash in particular. A lot of the 'extreme' ones don't do it at all for me. More noise than music) -Techno(Trance, more than anything else. Dark rhythms and pulsing beats stir something primal in me.)
Nope I like some folk music. Mostly stuff with lyrics I dig. Had to read them on Highschool, because the English teacher was a musician and 'bout late 50's from age.
So I had to read rly loads of 60's lyrics. And some earlier.
My faves:
'all along the watchtower'
'sympathy for the devil'
'pain it black'
from the really old stuff:
'strange fruit' rly haunting this song.
and from jazz. i dun dig it. more of a blues type. rock and roll? i dunno i still keep listenin to the man in black. though he isn't a genre. his requiem came from this weirdo who made music for black ops 2 (yeah yeah i know this trent xD )
my fave song from him? well 'folsom prison blues'
jazz i only know through the cosby show. seen every episode as a child. about 10 times. was a meme with my family when i got home^^ we've seen dem all.
but was more into this cool stuff from the eighties as a brat. so run dmc and da shizzle.
but music changes. nowadays more electronic. but guitars were accustic also one time. and even in the 70 there was electornic music (kraftwerk), depeche mode and pet shop boys tried good stuff in the 80's.
and yeah. sometimes i just listen to dubstep and hip hop and dun give a shizzle. but y not '(;.
I really can't get more specific than that. The older I get the less I like 'mainstreamed' music, such as autotuned pop, over tracked country or muzaked swing or jazz. It's sort of like food, the more processed it is, the less I like it.
On a more positive note, I adore jam sessions of any type. Musicians get better when they play with each other and the better the musicians, the more the improvement.

I tried to like rap but it is usually about ****ing police and pimping drugs. While some try to make this turn around from Gangsterdom I am not surprised. Not to be jaded or bias some metal is distasteful as it is lovely. I prefer Metal of telling tales of mythology like Amon Amarth and some other folk metal even though the poems are usually ****ed up and all mixed up.
Like: 1. 80's rock - all kinds 2. 90's rock - all kinds 3. 80's alternative 4. 60's rock - all kinds 5. 70's rock - all kinds
May listen to: - Techno - 00's rock - classical
Dislike: -1. Gangsta Rap -2. Hip-Hop (Dirtier Rap, isn't it?!) -3. Grunge Metal -4, Crappy 'remixes' of killer songs -5, So-called 'country' -6, Anything cranked so loud that the bassline rattles the paint off the car's fenders
I've add an expansion to this topic. See the first post and comment if you like.

Dislike: rap, country, dubstep
Will listen to: most other genres
Examples of favourite bands: Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Rush, Iron Maiden, Dream Theater
I'm very selective, myself. The words are very important to me and if I can't get into what they're saying, it just doesn't do it for me. But--
Also, note, I'm horrible with musical genres. If my description of a sound is wrong, go ahead and correct me but don't be surprised.
Christian rock, but the words are very very important. A couple examples: () ()
Jazz, my uncle is actually a very very good jazz pianist who's played around the world and is currently playing in vegas.
Vocal, like Josh Groban (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30uKyzGdtIo). He has the second best voice I've ever heard before. The first goes to a guy named David Phelps, who's actually Christian, but the main...draw of his singing is his voice (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qkttgfPBNnA). If you can listen past the lyrics you'll see his voice is absolutely amazing.
Electronic, techno, though mostly techno, like Basshunter. Haven't really listened much to other forms like trance or house, though I think if I did I could find a few things I liked.
Dislike country, very strongly dislike rap (all variant--hip hop, R&B, whatever), though I've heard a couple of rap songs that appeal to the black in me (Eminem, Not Afraid/Lose Yourself & (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2lX8nq9Wsbo)).
Can't think of anything else, offhand. Though, once again, my...knowledge of musical delineations is rudimentary at best.
Oh--I like fake blues. Specifically, stuff that feels like blues to me but isn't necessarily (because it isn't following the pentatonic scale, or some other reason). Switchfoot - (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Or1aFVBEZBY). Well, heck, the little description for that, taken from some review I'd assume, calls the album "soul."

70s music is much better than overrated 80s. I hardly like 20 songs from 80s.
In order of like: 50s > 70s > 60s > 90s > 80s > 2000s > 2010s
Ah I like to say half of Country died when Marty Robbins died in 80s, the other half when Johnny Cash died in 2003.
So WTH is with all this dislike toward Blues and Country? Haven't you been sad in your life? Don't you like to listen to mild music? ... ENLIGHTEN ME AGAIN! (not enough responses last time)
