I'm very selective, myself. The words are very important to me and if I can't get into what they're saying, it just doesn't do it for me. But--

Also, note, I'm horrible with musical genres. If my description of a sound is wrong, go ahead and correct me but don't be surprised.

Christian rock, but the words are very very important. A couple examples: () ()

Jazz, my uncle is actually a very very good jazz pianist who's played around the world and is currently playing in vegas.

Vocal, like Josh Groban (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30uKyzGdtIo). He has the second best voice I've ever heard before. The first goes to a guy named David Phelps, who's actually Christian, but the main...draw of his singing is his voice (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qkttgfPBNnA). If you can listen past the lyrics you'll see his voice is absolutely amazing.

Electronic, techno, though mostly techno, like Basshunter. Haven't really listened much to other forms like trance or house, though I think if I did I could find a few things I liked.

Grunge/metal? I don't know about this one. Where would you put Breaking Benjamin? They're like grunge and metal. Somewhere along that line. Anyway, two bands I like a lot, Red (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_F3mE4BEbv8) And Flyleaf (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EYM0MjSr-YQ) are lot like them, Red more lyrically and Flyleaf more musically. Another with, I think, a similar sound is a band called Demon Hunter (Christian metal) that, just like BB (and Red) can write beautiful slow songs in addition to fast, rockin' songs (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SOEoD7H9RQ) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmQ_pKPh8cU&feature=related). Another, unrelated metal band that's made a few songs that interest me is Underoath (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63EetspU6Is) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FbKKNlRHX2o), both songs are magnificent.

Dislike country, very strongly dislike rap (all variant--hip hop, R&B, whatever), though I've heard a couple of rap songs that appeal to the black in me (Eminem, Not Afraid/Lose Yourself & (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2lX8nq9Wsbo)).

Can't think of anything else, offhand. Though, once again, my...knowledge of musical delineations is rudimentary at best.

Oh--I like fake blues. Specifically, stuff that feels like blues to me but isn't necessarily (because it isn't following the pentatonic scale, or some other reason). Switchfoot - (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Or1aFVBEZBY). Well, heck, the little description for that, taken from some review I'd assume, calls the album "soul."

This is what I call a good comment bro, even if we disagree in some parts :)

I like songs from every genre except Death Metal (I just don't like the genre as a whole really, but I may just never have heard a good song from it).

That being said, I mostly listen to:

1. EDM of ALL kinds, be it House, Electro Pop, Dubstep, Brostep, Hardstyle, Trance, GLITCH I LOVE GLITCH, and all the other types
2. Vocaloid. And while the songs done using Vocaloid fit into other genres, I feel the need to separate it cause it is kinda it's own thing.
3. All other music (cept Death metal). I've heard songs from Top 40 Pop to Country to Big Band to everything that I've liked.

Couple things to add.

1, I like a bit of punk, like Relient K (), though their sound has changed a bit over the years.

2, there's this band named Falling Up that started out making songs like this () but slowly went into stuff like this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IpcDQGdwlGU). I really don't know, but I'd call this prog rock in my ignorance. It's pretty cool.

Most bands I listen to most change with weather. These five are always with me tho;
Nine inch nails
David Bowie
Peter Murphy
The Doors
Saddeningly short lived incarnation of Marilyn Manson that did great music(95-99 or thereabouts)

An entity combining industrial noise and artsy pop/rock usually has my attention.(radiohead) Both work seperately just fine as well( Peter Gabriel, Error)

Really can't stand rap, hiphop, R&B or nu metal(thank god latter seems pretty dead now at least)

So after some research on music I found these singers very appealing:

Amos Milburn
Doris Day
Nat King Cole
Al Jolson
Louis Jordan
Ella Mae Morse
Lynn Anderson
Connie Smith
Roger Miller
Barbara Mandrell
Peggy Lee
Frank Ifield
Kay Starr
Carl Smith
Maddox Bros & Rose
Bill Monroe
Patsy Cline

Any old singers you started liking recently?
