Story Mode

I see it like this. You make your character and the game plays it self (either in game or threw a series of cut screens) untill you have to speak to someone, make a plot decisions, or choose were to travel.
I would like this option because sometimes I just want to sit back and enjoy the story. I also think it would be a good way for people who don't play these games to get in to them.
In the end its only a suggestion.

I do agree though. It wouldn't have worked in DA2 since there were no choices, but maybe in DA3 it will be different.

I'm fine with that, as long as they don't call Dragon Age 3 an RPG.
I hope they don't call DA3 an RPG regardless.

They are deep, emotionally engaging and philosophically enlightening. Just look at the vigorous debate that Mass Effect 3 has caused. Whether one likes the game or not, it can't be denied that every single second of Mass Effect 3 is intellectually stimulating.

To the point, BioWare could be even more innovative with Dragon Age 3 and include Cinematic Immersion Mode, to further elevate gaming as a storytelling medium.
(Personally, I wouldn't care too much if there was a Cinematic Immersion Mode. I was initially against it, but the lulz factor far outweighs any misgivings about the impact on the games. But if you just want to watch the cutscenes, don't you have youtube for that sort of thing?)

2. It'd have to have a whole lot more story than DAII to get away with that.

I was wondering if it would be possible to add a mode to Dragon Age 3 were the game plays it self out like a interactive movie.

Firstly I doubt this'd even be technically possible, since you'd have an open gameworld (for the rest of the game) and a pre-determined path for the PC and party in "story mode", which would all have to be pre-programmed.
I think, though, that a lot of what makes games "Bioware games" isn't just combat, but exploration. If the game played itself there'd be no discovery, no finding sidequests, you'd miss out on so much game content that required doing other things than fighting...
What would work better is a very easy combat difficulty similar to what ME3 did, where every battle is over in about three seconds and you can breeze through them to get to conversations and such.

Go watch a movie. Or go 'play' ME3's story mode. Or watch Youtube clips of cut scenes. Don't ask a developer to mutilate the game experience on your behalf.

I was wondering when someone would suggest shoving this into Dragon Age. This goes beyond 'hold my hand' through a game, this is full-fledged 'carry me' through a game. I almost want to vomit.

What you call mutilate, I call cutting the pointless fat of padding.

This is good, the whole direction Bioware took ME and DA made a lot of disgruntled fans. You could say "you can't please everyone" but I only agree with it only if a minority is upset and not the whole majority.
As for my view on different game modes on campaign, I'm not entirely in favor of it.

Story Mode - most random encounters are cut, party HP is inflated by 4x and enemy HP is reduced to 1/4.
Strategy Mode - uh... I'm not sure this is needed but I know some people like to play BG/DA mostly for the micromanagement so I guess this could auto-pick dialogue like action mode in ME3?
This feature would be ridiculously quick to implement, and hey, if it leads to more people enjoying the game then I'm all for it. Imho this is the right way to bring in more people into the audience, by making it accessible to people new to the genre by gently introducing them, making them want to turn on RPG mode on their own once they get better.

After experiencing the butchery of the original mass effect mode to facilitate new modes in ME3 and flowing cutscenes i'm very anti the concept of modes. Roleplay aspect of an RPGshouldn't be optional imo.

I guess Bioware will have collected statistics from ME3 and will decide whether the multiple modes are worthwhile based on that.
