Does anyone know how to solve the puzzle with the columns and the beams of light in Legacy? The one you encounter after you team up with Larius? I haven't found a single useful guide to solving it...which means I'm pretty much screwed, since I can't go forward and I can't go back.

Sorry, but that's not particularly helpful. I don't have any white or red or green or whatever energy beams. Just orange.

Oh, you're stuck on the very first energy puzzle? The one you have to finish to advance? Your hopes of getting the Weisshaupt helmet are not looking good, friend.
Despite what I said earlier, in this case, the Wiki is actually your best hope here. The diagram demonstrates the path the orange beam has to take.

I sympathize here. I fully understand using a guide or the wiki to solve puzzles. I use them for the DAO stone bridge puzzle, a DAA fire puzzle, and the Prosper picture puzzle in MotA.Craverguy wrote...

That said, I've found that some puzzles are mainly a matter of trial and error (this puzzle and the Stone Prisoner cat demon puzzle are examples). So, let's establish a few things (this is not meant in a patronizing way.)
Do you fully understand how the puzzle works? That is, how to manipulate the columns and make the beam change direction? If the answer to that is yes, are you just looking for a quick fix, or have you tried a lot of trial and error and gotten nowhere?
They key to this puzzle is to take a few moments, look around, see where the beams are going, and try to figure out where they are supposed to go. Something that might be helpful might be to reload to a previous save when the puzzle was fresh and start over.
Other than that, my only other suggestion is to look at the wiki, or the guide April posted.

make sure the orange beam flows to the other side, that is all there is to it

I just ran around clicked on them in order from where you start...So poorly designed. Not really a puzzle at all...
