@Chris92: If you don't recruit Leliana, she says that she is staying in Lothering to help the refugees. If she said that and then ran away anyway, it would lend weight to the Guardian's accusations. I would have like to think that she put her blatant opportunism aside just that once, but I could be wrong.
I get it. You like the character. You want to see more of her. I do not like her. I wouldn't go out of my way to kill her unless there was a solid role-playing reason to do it (i.e. my character was defending mages from her), but if the situation did arise, it would cause me no grief.
Mostly, though, I can understand the desire to kill her just to keep her from coming back. The devs have learned their lesson about resurrecting characters, so a knife between the ribs might finally cure the rash.
The ideal solution would be to just leave her out of future titles. There is no way to undo the damage caused by resurrecting her for DA2, but they can reduce the damage by just letting it drop and not trotting her out for DA3. Doubt that would happen, though. The fanboys would rage.
I think the "damage done" is a little bit of hyperbole in your part. But hell, the entire DA2/ME3 fiasco was mixed with a few ounces of hyperbole really.
Her coming back was plausible. The problem is, people look at their "executions" as canon, and will use it for their arguements. I think that if BioWare wants to kill another character they should add a little cutscene to the end of the fight, solidifying the manner in how said NPC was "killed." If they did that previously and... let's say, killed Lelianna with a stab to the belly (a la Morrigan) we could easily say that she managed to survive it.
