Uh...do you want a method (Circle mages and lyrium/Dalish Magic) or do you want a scenario for AFTER they enter the Fade?
I'm trying to figure out a reason to go in the fade that isn't like the Feynriel quest. I don't want to send them in because 'somone won't wake up'. I just can't seem to come up with a good enough reason. The scenario after they enter is easy, it's figuring out a logical reason for them to enter without feeling like I'm just borrowing a previous idea.

You go into the Fade a lot during the game I'm not sure if there's anything left!
Sent to the Fade with Lyrium (twice)Sent to the Fade by a Sloth DemonSent to the Fade with Blood magicSent to the Fade with a magical glowing box...thing (It's been a long time since i've played Awakening might've been Lyrium or somethin')Sent to the Fade with...Old Dalish magic?
"Blood Magic" sending you into the Fade hasn't been talked about much and is probably uncommon considering how people feel about it in Thedas.
Sorry, that's I could think of

Perhaps they seek some forgotten lore or it's the location of a rare item that is rumored only to be found in the Fade since it was hidden there by "Fistandulitidius the Tevinter mage" 1000 years ago. You don't mention what the conflict in your story will be (protecting the town from an invading army or personal power accumulation or whatever motivations the protagonist will have) but seems to me to get some forgotten, ancient artifact that will turn the tide in some hopeless battle (for good or evil) seems logical to me?
As the Fade is a realm of dreams, not easily breached in a conscious matter without lyrium or blood magic sacrifice, I could see it being a repository for something like that (if you don't want to go the "wake someone up" or "free someone from demonic possession" routes). Any number of puzzles and traps may have been employed by ole Fistie long ago to keep his enemies out, or it may be 'hidden in plain sight' as some other innocuous thing.
They may or may not find what they are looking for (and often the unforeseen rewards you weren't expecting exceed the tangible ones), but it does give you an original reason for entering, and once in, whatever goal you had for them can play out, even if it's different from this.

Yeah, I kinda left out the main plot point because some players get irritated when you deviate or use artistic license. >.>
I didn't think of the 'free someone from demonic posession'. The story is DA2 based, so if they didn't cover that in that one, I suppose I COULD use that one. I don't know if going into the fade after an artifact would work. I'll have to chew on that idea a bit more.

Yeah, they're aren't too many 'original' ways to end up there now. I'll have to figure it out. And yeah... Blood Magic doesn't really go over real well in Thedas.

It was the original reason in DAO they went into the fade in Redcliffe (if you go that route), to free Connor from the desire demon. I've only killed the boy once (powerful scene--I had Isolde do it). As Alex points out, another reason could be 'thrown into the Fade by a demon" which happens in the Circle tower and sort of how it happens in Awakenings, some ritual a darkspawn does to force open the veil and push the warden and co in.
I welcome deviation (it's how you get NEW stories) and I don't mind artistic license in a story as long as it's lore friendly and in character. Hence, my suggestion as a totally new reason for going. Maybe Fistie himself sends them there looking for something 'he forgot' as it was so long ago...hmm now I'M getting ideas for a story
Anyway, have fun writing whatever you do, and I'm sure your readers will love it!

I love it when we're able to work together and help each other out! lol
My sister is a huge canon-obsessor, she doesn't like stories that deviate at all. I tried to write a story where Fenris had someone else in his life because I was writing about a male Hawke that got together with Isabela. She threw a fit because I added an OC, since Isabela had Hawke. *shakes head* She even had an argument with me once about whether or not slavery could happen in Kirkwall. I kept trying to point out to her that while it is 'illegal', there were still instances of Hawke and the others catching and killing slavers in Kirkwall. I pointed out to her that it says it's "illegal", not "impossible". I just worry about giving away plot points for that reason. I generally write fanfiction for fun, and it takes the fun out of it when people obsess and scrutinize every teensy little thing you write. At least, that's how I feel about it lol

You would need to write a whole new scenario entirely, and you would also have to work it into the story for it to make sense.

Or they break into some dudes dream in order to give him nightmares so they can trigger something in real life.
Or they need to kill someone, because he has fatal information about your gang of heroes, and if that information is shared it would destroy your gang. They can't get to him because he is too guarded, so they use the fade to get to him and kill him.

I don't know if there is a place to post it on here. I'm only just now becoming accustomed to using the BSN. I'm thinking about posting it on FF.Net though

You can actually post it in this thread's general heading (Fan creations also include fiction) and there is a stickied thread up top that you can post a link to it (for FF.Net and BSN boards) for readers to enjoy. Keep in mind, there are standards of conduct you must observe if posting it to the BSN boards, cheifly if you have mature content. I post all my fics with K-T ratings here, reserving my M material for FF.net.
And get a good Beta reader to edit your story. I can't tell you how many times my own tales were saved from some stupid thing I thought would be good but was actually cringeworthy. Many thanks to LadyDamodred for sorting out my chicken scratchings and helping me make printable prose!

I would normally have my sister proof read, but she is dead set against anything fan-story-wise that might deviate from what she feels should happen. She has her headcanon, and that's all that is allowed. Or at least, that's how she has a tendency to make me feel.
As for mature content, I don't have the guts. Kissing is about as far as my writing goes. I don't feel comfortable putting those sort of thoughts on paper, or on the net. I guess I'm a bit of a prude. xD

By deviation from lore, I mean anything that is blatantly anti-Dragon Age. Some examples of particularly annoying fanfics being the Warden and Alistair have loads of babies to rule after them, or Avernus suddenly creates a 'cure' for the taint (nothing in his research suggests ANYthing like that is of interest to him, since he wants to exploit the taint, not get rid of it). Ignoring established lore in favor of 'wish fulfillment'. To me it doesn't matter how well written or interesting such stories are, they tend to annoy the crap out of me (hence why I rarely read them). Bringing in an OC to romance an unromanced Fenris isn't Anti-lore to me, just a slight deviation from the story, but well within it's lore. Remember, DA is a very personal thing, what may be canon for your sister, doesn't have to be your canon. As long as you tackle the issues that keep Fenris from intimacy, I see no reason why he couldn't find someone else attractive. A mage may be a bit stretching it, but if you build up the relationship logically, I see no reason why he couldn't.
I can help with story logic/lore stuff. If I am unsure about something, I can always ask a friend of mine (who is much better with the lore than I am and is my Beta) to help. I am less capable of editing for grammar. I've improved thanks to her help, but I still fail to put commas where they need to be. Just PM me here if you're interested.

Chapter 1 is done and I posted it on FF.Net. Once I figure out to post it here (I'm currently looking), I'll probably try posting it here. I actually shied away from having Fenris get involved with the OC, although I was originally leaning in that direction a little. As for finding someone who doesn't have at least a wariness when it comes to mages, I think the only character from DA2 that fits under that category is Anders... and I'm... not a fan of his. xD The first playthrough, I killed him when I saw what he did and the fact that he tried to get me to help him made it that much easier. xD
I'm doing the best I can to make sure the whole darned thing makes at least some sense.... at least as much as Dragon Age can. xD

Sure. It's called "The Captive's Chant". It's been pulled down momentarily due to some issues I'm having with FF.Net's settings, though. Every time I post it, whether I cut and paste or upload the .doc file, it jumbles all my sections together, removes anything I have centered or tabbed, and removes all of my carriage returns (enter spaces). I've tried reposting it a dozen times, but it's still acting goofy. I know that it takes a while to show it as fixed on the site, but when I go back into the edit/view screen to look at it, it's back the way it was before I fixed it. It's plucking my nerves right now, but I'm trying hard to fix the problem. *shakes FF.Net like a rag doll*

I did notice some grammatical and punctuation errors I'm going to have to fix, not to mention some words that mysteriously were missed by my editing program when I skimmed through to get it ready for posting. I'll clean them up. Consider what's there a rough draft for now xD I'm not going to try and pull it down and clean it up again, FF might not let me get it back up there....
