So it will need some balencing. But strictly for PvP. Like Stasis granting big damage resist to the target or needing the shield gate to be down first. Tech mine needing 2.5 sec to prime before detonation. Custom rules for shield gate penetration. You get the idea.

A thought: How about a Battle Arena mode. Like DOTA & League of Legends.

For Mass Effect 3: it would be terrible.

For the Mass Effect Franchise: it has potential, but there would need to be better mechanics for players on the receiving end of most biotic powers, particularly Stasis, Pull, and Singularity.

Well, it seems unrealistic... In Mass Effect it would need a story background, it could be something like an intergalactic training academy or something like that. But then you would need to completely redesign and rebalance the powers and fix all the bugs otherwise it would be too frustrating. So, no... pvp is not a good idea...

Only if it is like Dust 514... You still have co-op, and you fight another team, or something... I don't know... I just tried the beta, but it is fun.

It wouldn't make sense lore wise. For this game, anyway.

I'm sure it would be totally epic to be stun locked by biotics constantly. The first Mass Effect anyone? Remember the biotic battles.... no thanks.

First to fall into stasis loses GO!
Nah way too unbalanced.
Maybe in ME5. Or 20

The only "epic" involved in the idea of PvP in ME3 is the fail kind.

*vanguard Biotic charges! Uses Reegar carbine! Kills in moments! People **** incessantly!*
*Vanguard goes for the next target! Biotic charges! Gets glitched! HAX!!!*

*Shadow cloaks! Shadow Shadow Strikes! Onehit KOs people. People ****.*

*Someone uses Shockwave/ES/BS/Smash! People **** about wallhax!*

*Geth with hunter mode javelins someone through cover! wallhax!*

*Asari acolytes other player! STASIS! Snipes. People ****.*

*Over compeditive, fragile ego-ed person lag switches. People complain!*

*Grenade friendly classes spawn nuke! People *****

And lets not overlook the variables of gear level, weapon level, and character level. Someone will go into a match with lvl IV consumeables, level V gear, level X weapons, and a lvl 20 character and curb stomp for the lulz.

Seriously, do you really want to go against some of the most inbalanced for PvP builds EVER?... or do you just wanna be billy badass stroking your ego while playing them?

On another note, I hate PvP. I'd never play it for the very reason I just stated. People will gravitate to the most efficient builds, and stick to them, and pummel the hell out of people. It won't be fun. It just won't.

All the rebalancing for PvP will probably destroy the game as it was obviously NEVER meant to be balanced around PvP.

There you go, N7 Training Academy.  The singler player has the shooting range.  Multiplayer gives you a training academy.  You can choose any difficulty with any enemy or number of enemies from the 3 enemy groups or open it up for limited PvP.

But yeah, the whole lore thing breaks true PvP since ME3 brings all civilizations, and even the criminals, together to fight common enemies.  I have no idea how Bioware could explain a ME MMORPG either though.  I wouldn't play it anymore than I'd pay attention to Skyrim multiplayer.

Only if it was like L4D or based on high scores.

Hrm ... Everyone would have to be on equal footing, so ...

Only one kit in PVP, everyone is a Hanar Spectre with a Predator pistol.

Ah yes... PvP. Also known as GI + Piranha. It's not like anyone would play anything else...

Epic failure.
The game as it is was not designed for pvp, unless you don't care being killed and powerless about it. The best they could do is a pvp like L4D, but not character vs character.

Serioulsy... infiltrator TC one shot, yhea awsome pvp indeed ! and for power you don't even have to aim, just look at your target barely in the middle of the screen and the powr is locked on.

Killing without skill and being killed without a fair chance to survive make horrible pvp concept.

Obviously they would change the hp and shields, has nobody played a game where pvp was implemented later into the game.

If you think about it being more like CoD or Halo, where as soon as you die, you respawn somewhere "safe" on the map it would be kinda fun.

It could be alright if duration on some abilities would be lessened for this (singularity, pull, stasis, ect.)

Honestly, I would simply be a Cerberus Vanguard and lash everybody.

A.) wouldn't make sense story/lore wise

B.) would require hefty reworking of game mechanics

C.) Powers and class skills would be a major obstacle (stasis, lash, shadow strike, grenades, etc.)

D.) it's a bad idea and you should feel bad for thinking about it.

Why does everyone assume a PVP would be of 3 vs 3 variety? A lot of the objections are on game-winning combinations... that need not apply.

Left 4 Dead pulls off a very effective multiplayer even though, one-on-one, one team is vastly superior to the other. Special Infected aren't dangerous because they are equal to the players, they're dangerous because they're part of the hoard, and they respawn while the others don't.

So let PvP be N7 vs. Enemy.

N7 team plays like normal. Enemy team takes controls of mooks in the mob: you get to pick your next spawn based on the round number/difficulty/spawn budget, but when you go down you can respawn immediately.

If you really wanted, you could even have a switch-function: let the Enemy players can hand over their current mook to the AI, and take over an already spawned one.

So if Asari Vanguard uses Stasis, jump over to the Maurder right next to you and carry on the fight.

Sure it would:

You are Cerberus trooper/Geth trooper/Reaper thrall 2i3909842099038240239856. Do your duty.

B.) would require hefty reworking of game mechanics

Not as such: the enemies already work within the game mechanics. Control mechanics would be needed, but that's nothing different than the creating new classes.

C.) Powers and class skills would be a major obstacle (stasis, lash, shadow strike, grenades, etc.)

Sure, but so are waves of enemies who can spawn ten feet behind you and instant kill you.
