Well, the more experienced folks on this board may not, but a few might have questions, and I may have a few for you guys.

Have you ever wondered what its like to test video games for a living? Have you ever wondered how it alters your gaming experiences at home? Got any questions you'd like to ask about multiplayer, or my work? I'd rather not discuss which company, but I do have another hour at work, so we'll see how the Q&A goes.

As far as ME3 goes, I've used all the classes I have unlocked, and I've reset every class at least 5-10 times. (frequent rest card weilder.) Feel free to ask anything you'd like, if nothing gets asked, I'll go ahead and get back to work.

What form of education does it take to acquire this job?

I have a high school Diploma. I've also acquired several certifications that basically make me a glorified secretary with a 360 controller and a computer.

Hell. With the things I have been doing here lately, I practically already AM a (Free, Community) QA tester.

I have identified at least 4 incredibly detrimental bugs on the typhoon that invert common sense....

You get paid so little by companies (like $10 to $14 an hour) there's noway they would realistically require a college diploma. It's a pretty crappy position that's really only good for gaining experience so you can possibly move into design or production.

I've seen as such, Rokayt. People like you are what we look for. Seriously was on my application whether or not i'd ever emailed or notified a company of an issue i'd found. Also on the application how many Beta or Alpha tests (public/private/free/paid) I'd participated in.

Regardless of how appreciated you feel already, I want you to grant yourself +5 to being more qualified than half the people I work with.

Oh, you poor deluded soul. Those wages are far above what I make... I'm sitting on the tail end of a 64 hour work week on 75% of the values you just stated.

Every day. And every day we have to explain to developers why our issues are worth fixing, AND we have to tell them what the desired result is. And even then, they might not fix all the issues. They have a nifty little option in their reports that can mark any issue Known Shippable/ As Designed.

You know you can probably make more money at McDonalds... and free food too!!! Hahahaha! I'm kidding! McDonalds wouldn't want to hire a game tester anyways... Hahahahahah!

I really hope that the "As Designed" bugs only ever are things which are exploitable for fun.

If something like the "N7 Typhoon=Purgatory"* glitches was marked off as an "As designed" bug......
I would RAAAHHHG. Very badly. (Think the Vorcha.)

* Highlight for explaination:(From what I have cross examined, and co-tested.... Half the mods cause strange glitches that have penalties similar to those that the Inferno likened to the punishments of hell. AP mod makes Typhoons damage multipliers vanish, making it terrible against armor.... The Extended mags somehow reduces damage, making the increase in the number bullets availible pointless....)

This would be true, but I am guaranteed 40+ hours a week here and Job security for quite a while. Plus in house games only cost me 33% of retail price. Lets see Mcee D's beat that.

At least the QA testing discounts don't discount things that actively shorten my life...

Without showing me some form of proof, I doubt you are a real tester...

You'd be very surprised and very disappointed. I shan't comment further in this.

I am 17 and taking classes for an Associates in Digital Design...

I have been in like 3 Beta tests... 2 closed, 1 open.

I play games like all day every day when I am not at college.

Would I have much of a chance of being a tester? :(

I used to be in the gaming industry years ago (luckily in film/tv now) but I still have plenty of friends who are or used to do QA. A normal QA tester (not talking about the QA Manager or Assistant Manger) is going to normally make $10 to $14 an hour and if it's a medium or big company then they'll probably be a "contract worker", which is just a loophole for companies to not give benefits. I'm not saying QA isn't a lot of work or isn't hard, but I've never known anyone who actually wanted to do it... it's simply a stepping stone for a better position. Also, a 64 hour work week isn't a good thing. I'd much rather keep my free time with a normal 40 hour week and still be making more money.

Proof Later when I have access to my PC for personal info retention. i have testing certification and a non-employee badge. (I'm a contractor.) but I understand the doubt. This is the internet. A quick google search can get you insight into anything. I didn't start this to debate the validity of my claims, simply a topic of conversation to pass the last hour of my day. So, by all means, doubt me. Doesn't make my job any less testy.

These are all true. Assumed, I'm sure you can validate damn near anything I'll be replying to in this thread. My pay is unreasonably low due to the area, and what they can get away with doing within this state. The country that contracts me is based out of state, so they don't pay taxes on our wages before they pay them, butthe same taxes they would be paying are taken out on delivery to me. And I ddn't say this time was a good thing. Just lucky for me as I was strapped for cash from a week ago when i was sick. Being in a building in proximity to 400 other people for 8-12 hours a day will kill your immune system.

Not saying it doesn't suck. I'm a programmer, and I test my own and others software. Games are just like super complex versions, but are you QA or 'does it feel right' (not sure of the term)?

QA Compliance. I make sure the builds pass First party certification to even be released.

What's your basis on this assumption?

Tell me.
  • What it takes to fix the "Magnet-Pulls" & Vanguard Glitch. I still experience them even Hosting. I have Great Connection.
  • I also like to know why the hell my powers automatically assigned when I should be assigning them. This happened just recently since I promoted all my characters.
  • :bandit:
I like to know why I get this. This is frustrating...is an understatement.
