I really hate to see them change this sort of thing oddly enough it was never mentioned in the patch notes.

No.
Bioware are fixing a problem with the game.
The problem was that Blood Dragon Armor was not properly balanced with the rest of the equipment in the game AND was available for too early / cheaply.
It disrupts the gameplay experience in it's original form.
Bioware tried to fix that.
agreed.
in fact, i almost hate starting with all the pre-order goodies as well, but i cant police myself as to when i get to use them.
i actually kinda have a problem with the warden's keep DLC because you can go there early and once you rout and gather all the gear there you wont need to upgrade at least one characters full gear for many levels...
i like climbing the "weak" side of the gear and level structure so i have stopped going to the keep right off the bat so i can build characters a little more "organicly".
maybe down the road we would see a time restriction (or level) on certain DLC, because while the difficulty is scaled the gear is not.

I put the Warden Commander Armor on Alistair (Knight Commander later on). Ohgren always gets the Legion of the Dead armor set. Sten... well I never really cared about Sten so I just make him where the god awful looking Blood Dragon armor.

You can sell it to the blacksmith at warden keep and buy back the upgrade version. I also heard that if you keep it in the chest at the keep, it will upgrade over time. I haven't confirm the latter yet.

But all the 'balancing' issues, don't have to be fixed at all. Even if everything was free, it's a SINGLE player... what's there to fix? Don't like it don't use it... Now people who like it can't use it...
Normally I agree with this argument except in the case of DLC items. Should I not be able to use the items that I essentially paid extra for (Collectors Edition, DLC) without having to worry about making the game significantly easier for myself than if I had not bought those items?
Let's argue the otherside of the issue we. Why can't YOU still use the armour in it's more balanced form? It's still one of the best suits of armour in the game, plus it looks pretty cool. Considering it's possible to play the game naked and be successful it's hardly an issue of stats.
The problem with this entire point is that you're making an assumption that, for whatever reason, we as players are incapable of making 'good' decisions about what our characters use and must be lead by the nose.
The otherside of the argument is effectively nonsense, as ultimately, they've taken a piece of gear and replaced it with something completely different. Whatever reasons you had for equipping it originally may have just evaporated, and hence gamers who were quite happy with their builds now either have to mod it in or choose something else.
Given that the only people who benefit from this - players who, for some reason, think the dragon armour looks great but... for whatever reason, feel the reasonable stats were such an issue that their gaming experience will explode, I think it was a pointless act to ****** off everyone who used the armour because it fit their character. Trying to claim that if you want it back you can simply mod it is somewhere between absurd and pointless too, as the toolset is available only to PCers.

Be interesting how the ME2 version compares to other gear in ME2, specially considering it unlikely there is a toolset for it.

The only issue I really have with it is the visor, the rest of the armor fits the setting, the glowy red visor only fits MEverse not DAOworld. Course the only issue then is that it would just be like Knight Commander's Helm. Course the good thing is, the Helm isn't needed for the item set bonus so can easily replace it with the aforementioned other helm or another one.

I need to double-check, but I'm pretty sure that with version 1.1, the helm is needed for the item set bonus.
I don't think it was that overpowered compared to the other late-game armors. It's a late-game armor - with the str requirement, it doesn't matter when you get the first piece, you'll very well be able to have at least legion/juggernaut/warden commander armor by the time you can wear it. And oh, Warden Commander armor is at least as good as the version 1.0 armor was, if not better, and it scales to your level so that you can get most of the bonuses into play a lot earlier.

Eh. I never wore the damn thing anyway. It was way overpowered and made my character look like a clown.
Overpowered is neither here nor there, but yeah, I never wore it either. I'm just worried they'll start modding kit in the game for the sake of it, like they've done here.
