They've said about thirty times that they won't be changing the ending. Because it's their ending and they can do what they bloody well like with it.

Which is why Mass Effect's current staff of writters have failed.  They cannot or will not recognize that sometimes their ideas aren't amazing, that in fact they sometimes are terrible.  If they were more talented, they might have been able to pull off something like this, but Hudson and Mac are not Asimov and Dick.

When you're forced to head canon an ending to get a decent one and a complete one, it becomes yours, not theirs.

Sure, they can do what they "bloody well like with it", just as a used toothpick salesman is free to sell his wares.  It just isn't a great business model to act that way, especially when you so obviously fail to deliver on the internal promise of a story and the external promises you made.  It's like that used toothpick salesman promising clean used toothpicks and actually selling ones with hunks of old food on them.

Well put.

I give them credit for at least trying with the EC. That and the fact that there are good parts to the game are why I'm willing to purchase DLC.

Mass Effect just isn't the same for me as it used to be though. I won't be buying any of their non-game ME items anytime soon (most of the comics were full of "meh" anyway) and I will be inclined to avoid future Bioware franchises, knowing as I do now what their relationship with their fans is like.

I agree and it can be a fatal move for any media outlet . You ask people to use their imaginations creatively because of frustration with the brand, then at the least you risk losing a customer.

Daily.  You aren't alone.  And you won't be nearly the last person to post something like this.

My roommate is actually playing the Mass Effect trilogy for the first time right now.

He's on ME2, and really enjoying it. Wish I could warn him about the ending to ME3 without spoiling things. It's like... I know this horrible traffic accident is about to happen, but I can't do anything to stop it... Image IPB

On a side note does that make me more of a fan of ME because I beat ME2 nearly 6x more than you did and ME3 9x more?

:)

Just curious.

But seriously you're not the only one BW "failed" conversely you're also not the only enjoying the series and thus there are a multitude of opinions out there so BW didnt fail everyone. Just certain people, like yourself

Why do I not care about the opinion of someone named "Brony4LIFE"?

You, in fact, care so little that you took the time to respond to his post.

Yeah cos it takes hours to respond to a post with 1 sentence, don't be silly.

They can do what they like with it? What if they changed it to 10 minutes of elcor sex? Would you be fine with that?

They're not gonna change the ending. They're quite happy with the big giant crap they took on the franchise.

Likewise, the fallout from what BioWare did is theirs and their alone. When EA doesn't see anywhere near anticipated profits from DLC sales, somebody will lose a job. This is the nature of the business world. We can only hope that those with the most control over the ending are the ones affected, but sadly it's usually the little guy who gets crapped on the hardest.

did he/she play the EC? if so,I understand, EC isn't really that much better. It's superflous emotional stuff, which IS nice, but it's still very sloppy with the plot.
