If the Inquisitor has one.

I miss the dog actually working with your party and not just attack random enemies. Many didn't use dog in Dragon Age: Origins because of his limited potential compared to other team members, but others greatly enjoyed having him be part of the dialogue and encounters you found traveling Ferelden and Orzammar.

I would love if Bioware could make something like the Extra Dog Slot mod for Dragon Age: Origins.
I miss having a customizable dog that reacted to your adventures and could be part of your tactics along with any other squadmate.
I don't know if there is a concern of balancing but I'm sure the development team could figure something out.
In my opinion dog is too humorous and cute a companion to let him out of the series.

Dog for LI!

No really, I agree that the dog was cute, however, he had a bit too little interaction. Maybe you could make him do stuff in certain cutscenes. Maybe as an Intimidate option "Give me what I want, or I'll send my dog after you". Things like that.

I don't see an order like the Inquisition equip you with your own cute puppy however, so I guess you wouldn't have it from the beginning.

I don't want the dog to take the limited place of a companion that is actually useful.

So, I want the same, if not more, interactions with dog as in Origins, but for the dog to be a dog walking beside me and not behind me as one of the companions, but more useful than in DA2.

I would have loved to have taken Dog on my adventures in DA:O, but there were just other characters that I liked having with me.

To the OP's remark about Dog being a limited companion, I totally disagree. You could level Dog up in a way that would make him completely Beast Mode (pardon the pun). As far as warrior's go, he could do monster amounts of damage and if you pumped his Con up, he could take some serious punishment.

And I agree - having the scenes in DA:O where all the different companions interacted with Dog cracked me up. I mean... who doesn't love a dog?

Any other companion could so pretty much the same - and more. The only talent except his passives that was useful over others were overwhelm, i enjoyed that greatly though. A brilliant tactic to make Dog roam against the nearest elite or mage enemy and pin him for the first few seconds while damaging him.

But else i agree. I never though Dog was as bad as other made him out to be, at least i never felt my party missed anything if i used him instead of, say, Sten or Zevran.
The extra Dog Slot mod i went over to after going to PC helped that problem though, a full party PLUS dog, whixh is awesome.

I'd like a different breed of dog as a pet/follower. Mabari cannot be the only breed in Thedas.

The only ones who are specifically mass bred for war yes. That's not to say that some people wouldn't train a dog of a different breed to fight alongside them or to just travel with them.

Well, the Mabari was magically bred from hounds of Tevinter and the local tribes in Ferelden when the Imperium reached that far south. Perhaps the Tevinter had a nimbler more dexterous and short furred breed and cold Ferelden had a more bulky breed with thicker fur they used to cross to make Mabari?

Could be fun.

Do Orlesians have dogs?

I've had the impression that dogs are largely a Fereldan thing.

Yeah, mabari are Ferelden marks of nobility, etc. Orlesians have that funny saying that "Ferelden smells like a wet dog," which I think partly indicates their disappreciation for these cute, cuddly death machines.

The Orlesians have little lap dogs called Bon Bon that attack your ankles

Good one.  The o.p. wasn't specific with "come to life".

I really only took the mabari along during the early parts of Origins, but left them behind due to lack of dialogue and ranged options.  With DA2, you basically "whistled" and the mabari came to Hawke's side.  If anything, I would like to set tactics for the summoned mabari to follow, so they're not just attacking random enemies while the rest of the group is attacking another.  You have no control over them.  I think that the scenes with the mabari in Hawke's estate made up for the lack of party banter while traveling, and I liked that they didn't have to take up a party slot.

And the hunter guy in MoTA has two Mabari though he calls them coursers and not hounds.

Oh, yeah - I forgot about Bon Bon.  Didn't play MoTA.

There were some NPC interactions with "Boy" in DA2, which are always fun.  Also - you could summon him outside of combat, although he became sort of like a Ranger summon, not controllable at all.  Plus - I remember finding some doggie loot in the game, but could do nothing with it other than sell it.

Overall, I like the idea.

I love Dog! I really liked how he was used in DA2 where he didn't take a companion slot too. They ramped up his interactions. I'd like to see even more interactions with him! Maybe even make him a 4th companion in cinematic conversations and see him interact? Growl at people he doesn't like? Maybe urinate on them and create some humorous moments!? Who could hate the adorable mabari hound? I'd like him to find me some items like DA:O when I tell him too, then feed him a treat for a job well done.
