LADIES, Alistair or Zevran?

With my second character I'm in a relationship with Alistair right now (who I had dumped on my first character after his first night in favour of Leliana.. lol I'm so mean), so I kinda want to be truthful right now and just see where this goes. I'm a little bored already though, he's just so prude (though he joined me in the Pearl), guess I just have a thing for Zev.
And btw, about characters falling in love with you again after you dumped them/decided against them - I think Zev and Leliana do that actually, at least it happened on my first character. Leliana came back to me after I had broken up with her and finished her personal quest, Zev tried again to woo my character after I had decided for Leliana and against him. Alistair never tried again though - I guess he's just too shy and too prude...

After having tried out all of those relationships I think I'll have to stick with Zev. Leliana was fun and exciting for a while, but eventually I found her just a little too sweet. The foursome with her + Zev in the Pearl was fun though (well apart from that you don't even get a scene for it) - but the conversation afterwards was awesome. Eventually I went for Zev because he's fun and easygoing and naughty (and looks much better in my tent than Alistair), plus I love his comments when you invite him - ARR.. Pirate Zevran! And I love his accent!

That's kinda what I like about Alistair. I want to break him with my feminine charm.

Of course it was your fault; he didn't like you much! And it takes very little to get him to like you enough where he won't turn on you.

I got it opened back up with Alistair once too, haven't tried to repeat it though so it may have just been a glitch that worked in my favor. I can't remember which conversation I had with him that cut off the romance (I know it wasn't from choosing someone else), but when I went and did his personal quest I chose the "You have people who care about you." option and told him that I did and the romance was back on. But like I said, I haven't tried to duplicate it and then it's a choice between hardening him or romancing him if it wasn't just a glitch.

I think this indeed is heartbreaking, but the idea that he wouldn't have sex again is just out of character for Zevran.
That's the point. He allowed himself to fall in love again after telilng himself he wouldn't. Then she dies. Again. He's broken.
I don't understand how anyone could say Zevran's romance isn't sincere. Perhaps if you haven't finished the game romancing him? Before the landsmeet he leads you to believe he only wants sex (and he's trying to tell himself the same). Afterwards he realizes he loves you and just doesn't know how to deal with it. I find it really endearing to watch him squirm.
One could say that Alistair seems to fall in love with the first girl he's alone with. Is that sincere? His love is easy and comes really quickly. In my experience, when this happens it usually doesn't last.
I agree with this observation a lot. Zevran's romance isn't a real romance before after you meet Taliesen. Up until that point it is (at least on the surface) not a serious thing for Zevran. After he stands up to you against Taliesen, and offers you his earring - that's when Zevran's true emotions come through. If you don't go to camp and don't follow up on what he was saying when offering the earring, you miss out of the romance altogether, and I'm not surprised if people think his love isn't sincere if they haven't done this.
Romancing Zevran is most rewarding because when it does turn from no strings attached to an actual romance, it's not only something unexpected; it also shows Zevran as vulnerable and fragile. While Alistair is someone who can be hardened through learning about the realities of life, Zevran is someone who is softened after meeting the PC. He is the example of the idea that people can change to the better.

Which is a pity in my opinion. This way you're stuck with either Alistair who is a wuss even after being hardened and zevran who turns into a wuss after he joins your party. Not everyone likes 'nice' guys

I think you're interpreting the "softening" in a negative way. While Zevran changes for the better compared to his past, he is not made into a wimp. He is still old "bad boy" self, but has finally come to terms with accepting his inner emotions. I think what the PC gets from Zevran in love is a partner who is supportive and always stands by your side - not one who either wants to protect you or worships you.
Besides, if you want a guy you can't trust, you don't have to make the relationship go all the way to love

You don't need high approval to keep him from siding with Taliesen. Some people have said that 33 + interested is the lowest you need. That will keep him out of the fight, you'll need higher than that to have him side with you against Taliesen but I'm sure that isn't that difficult to do if you still have some gifts lying around.

I did play a male character one play through, and I think in some ways that romance is even more endearing than the one with the female character. He really does fight it all the way in either case. But I don't think you could ever call him a wimp, even after he falls in love. When he tells the PC by her side he'd storm the gates of the dark city, you know he means it. But it's more that he finally has someone to live for, not that he's become a gentle, soft person. Because that just does not happen.

David Gaider said that all of the romances are scripted the same way- meaning that you have two chances to pick up the romance after you've messed it up. However, in the game where Alistair made me choose (human noble, or I wouldn't have chosen him) I was never able to get Zevran back. Maybe I encountered a bug.
The reason why I like Zevran's romance so much is that I get the impression that if you do the romance he has been falling in love with you the whole time and is just pretending that he is casual about it. He does say "Ever since I joined you in your tent.." I just love the idea of him trying to fight his feelings and then realizing that he can't or just doesn't want to.
Though I notice, when selecting him after he was at love that occasionally he says "Si Amora."
It sounds like "Si, Amor" to me which is more Spanish than Italian. I thought Antivan was supposed to be Italian.
Anyway, I think when he says "I am yours" it is the most romantic and hottest thing I have heard in a video game. I love his voice.

Well, he kills people for a living with absoutely no remorse about it (save one). I don't know how much more of a bad boy one could be without being actually evil.

You only need to be above 30 approval with Zevran for him not to betray you. If you've been playing the romance at all it'll certainly be high enough.

Hah, I agree with so much of what you say. One other note from my Cammen experiments. I loaded up a character who hadn't romanced him and had her seduce Cammen. Same dialog between Zevran and Wynne, but instead of approving for +4 as he did with my character he adored, he approved for +6. I think my next play through I'll hold off on the Cammen thing until love and see what happens.
Edit: And he could be saying "Si Amor" but whatever, I was surprised first time i heard that, especially since the only thing Ali says is, "My Love." I like those little details.

That's not entirely what I mean. Just breaking him from his old prudish habits. Helping him to learn that there's more to life then what the Chantry says.

Did you maybe notice how he approves much more if you lick a few lampposts before his? Just as his prudish habits never prevent him from enjoying threesome very much indeed.
I would say he prefers experience and persuation over any kind of charm

Do you guys mean that Zevran is not a bad guy because he's sweet to the warden? I'm just trying to understand how anyone thinks he is not bad boy enough.

I swear the Persuade skill is just like the Jedi mind trick, except in this game if your Persuade is high enough you can persuade anyone (except you know the main bad people.) But you're right. If you come on to him you do get higher approval. I think he wants to be free from his shackles and was just waiting for the right girl to do it.

They want someone who could give them a slap. Like Bishop I think. Zevran isn't violent, he is an artist.
