After several playthroughs, Romancing both Zevy and Ali to the max I must choose Alistair as my favorite. The highs, the lows, the extremes, I love it all. Strangely, I ended up liking him more after his Landsmeet fit, and once made him break up with me on purpose so I could get the breakup speech, which was very moving and bittersweet. It's the dynamics of his character, the flaws and strengths, the diamond in the rough, that make him my favorite. I like messed up characters, because it makes them so interesting and real.
That said, I've never gone through a playthrough where Zev doesn't get at least a little loving. I think it's cruelty and neglect to make the poor elf go through a game without at least one trip to the tent.
I agree with you, Skadi. I love the potential drama of an Alistair relationship- the post Landsmeet break-up, whether it actually ends things or not, is more emotionally resonant for me than anything in a Zevran romance.
I've come to a point, with Zev, where I won't romance him if I know that PC won't end up with him. I would rather pretend he's spreading the Joy of Zev to lucky Fereldans we ecounter on our travels than string him along.
