Actually, the rose did have thorns. And if you pick the, "Feeling thorny, are we?" dialogue option, he admits that's why he gave it to you.

I haven't romanced Zev yet. My elf mage was too far gone over Al to even look at Zev and my Cousland is going to be Queen. I think you really have to try hard to not have a relationship with Al if you've got a female mage.

You don't have to be in love with Alistair to be queen.  Zevran will stay with you as he loves a royal scandal.  Lady Cousland should be queen over Anora anyway.  Many wanted Bryce Cousland to be king over Cailin.  You will get the most stability if you have a political match with Alistair!

Yes, but Alistair makes me laugh.  Zev's just not as funny.

I don't swing that way, but I support Alistair as a friend and king. He is the last of the Theirin bloodline, descended from Calenhad Theirin who united Ferelden from squabbling clans into the Ferelden that we know. In recent memory, it was Maric Theirin who regained independence for Ferelden.

That's why I support him as King, and will defend any baseless slanders against his good character.

Zevran, most definitely. My City Elf left him for Alistair because he was all "I love you! Choose!" and it impaired her judgment. Alistair reminds me of a child - whiny and hard to please. Zevran is at least easier to please and doesn't **** at you when you do something YOUR way.

I wish there were romance options with Teagan and Sten. I find them MUCH more appealing than Alistair or Zevran, to be honest lol

You can come to my camp and take his useless butt away then, he is not even a good cook really, Leli is better.

Zev is okay to flirt with to make Alistair a bit jealous to hot things up a bit at the end but I much prefer the personality that Alistair has. He is so funny and sweet and a bit geeky at times but very adorable. Zev is a little too easy and free loving for my tastes. What I found extremely funny was how tall my dwarf lady grew when Alistair kissed her. Maybe he was holding her up high for that kiss? Hehehehe.

Ahh I just love the romance in this game. Anyone have ideas of any other game with great romance in it?

Alistair. Hands down. The writing, the voice acting, the lovable geekiness...

I'm sure Zev has a lot of depth, I just haven't wanted to discover it. Alistair's too cute to pass up. <3

Ohh I find Sten strangely attractive too! Shame there is no romance there. Stens a manly man!

I get the impression from Sten (and from his "flirty" chat with Morrigan) that Sten would destroy most women.

Exactly, to look (and sound) like that AND be a total dork?

If you give a rose to a woman, you're saying you're cliche and you want to treat her like every other woman on the planet.

More analysis of Alistair and Zevran.

Alistair gave my mage a rose, and said that she reminded him of it. My mage specializes in freezing, burning, and electrocuting masses of enemies, often human. She attempts to crush the life out of enemy mages in a magical cage or knocks them back 20 feet with a massive stone projectile. She may not be out there smashing heads with a maul, but there is nothing delicate about her--she can kill you with her brain. Yet Alistair perceives her as being innocent and in need of protection.

Zevran, on the other hand, realizes you could kill him any time you want, and while he does want to protect you, he wants to protect you by going into battle at your side so he can backstab your attackers.

Yes, so I prefer Zevran.

River reference FTW.  Go Firefly.

Am I the only one who thought it was a really sweet sentiment? Honestly. Here's a world that's on the brink of destruction, and that rose is a reminder of all the beautiful and good things in it. It represents everything that you're fighting for, every rare and wonderful thing. In my mind, Alistair picks it up as a reminder to himself why he's fighting this fight, not with the plan in mind to give it to the PC later. Then, when his feelings develop for the PC, he gives it to her, and tells her it's not because she's delicate or helpless, but because she's the one bright and lovely thing in his life.

I mean, how can you NOT melt at that?

So you cant think of anything else to bash me with for not liking your precious pixel boy but assuming that I cant cook?
I can actually and I am very good old fashioned type of cook with lot of my Grandma recipes. Whatever my husbands complained about me it was never cooking or sex, trust me

Actually, I think DAO is the best game around that I've seen for romances. Mass Effect is definitely great, as well. My personal favorite, is, ad always will be Jade Empire, because that was my first Bioware game <3, but pretty much any Bioware game has awesome romances. So much better than Fable, Harvest Moon, etc.

Hmm... replying to the original topic, I'm an Alistair fangirl and I can't help it :P

I might try some of those other games mentioned in earlier posts just because I love romancing characters. It's fun, lol.
