While Zevran tells you he likes to kill, his stories repeatedly make me think that he really doesn't. It's something that he tells himself. But, he has no remorse over it either way. The fact that of all the cast, he's the one who will remain by your side in the end is the thing that really impresses me about him. In the game I rather like him. Would I want a guy like him in the real world, though? No. He'd be an outright criminal, and I'm with one of the above posters: He's sleazy. It's not that he hits on you right off, but that he openly wants to get you in bed with him right off even though he just tried to kill you, and then during banter he's always trying to get in your party members' pants. No thanks. On top of that he's extremely arrogant. He's the kind of guy I wouldn't bother to get to know in the real world unless I absolutely had to (hit men are hardly my ideal boyfriends). For the game, however, he's great.

^ Zev is too subtle for some people, but yes, you've picked up on it. Zev loaths himself and his humor and bragging are subtle jabs at himself. Zev does wish you had killed him because he doesn't believe his life will really ever be any better.

I'm going with Zev nearly every time because he's more honest and mature. Most of the "bragging" that comes of out Zev is actually subtle self-depreciation. Zev knows he isn't a good person and isn't even that good of an assassin. He maybe playful, but when he realizes you're serious he sobers up and turns out to be amazingly mature, responsible, and *gasp* humble.

Zevran is a survivor.  That's what I really like about him.  He rolls with the punches and tries his best for happiness despite being constantly kicked in the teeth.  Alistair does not have the inner strength.  His romance, while heart-warming and swoon-worthy, plays a lot more like infatuation, whereas Zevran's feels like something that is real and enduring.

I like both Alistair and Zevran - both have their perks and flaws.



I like Ali's shy, somewhat naive romancing, and I like Zev's outright honesty. They both made me laugh, and I think the backstories for both were really interesting and rewarding I think both are also attractive in their own ways and they can both mature as things get more serious.



Buuut, if I have to choose, I suppose I'll go for Alistair. It's the voice, seriously.

I love the character of Alistair ... as a friend. He is wonderfully well written and funny, but I am not interested in romance storylines with him.



I prefer Zevran. I didn't even know you could 'romance' him, I just sort of discovered it and fell for him. Er... My PC fell for him I mean. Sleeping with Zevran isn't hard, getting him to fall for me was a fun challenge, though.

Zevran definetily. I like his personality and humor more. In the end, he's the more loyal one with much more depth and devotion.

He's a great companion and fits in anywhere with his quick wit and unquenchable self confidence. Unfortunately his type is more prone to a one night stand followed by a quick disappearing act. Not very likely to settle down and have a family. Well not for a very long time anyway. Unfortunately he'll probably end up dead long before that would happen due to his rather risky lifestyle. Pick him if you're looking for a really fun night but probably not much more.



Alistair - Very good looking, with a smooth voice that melts women's hearts. Very sweet although not too bright. Little experience with the ladies due to his upbringing and training. Innocent and lacking self confidence he is strong in other ways and does what is necessary when the moment calls for it. He needs a strong woman to guide him into manhood. Not the best socially but charming enough to be accepted wherever he may go. Of the two Alistair is most likely to stick around and keep his woman happy. Pick him if you are ready to settle down and want a good solid man at your side.

That's pretty much how I see it.

Funny how Zevran ends up being the one who sticks around no matter what and Alistair is the one who flakes out unless you play your cards very right and are willing to accept sharing him in most cases . . .  Because you're right.  Both of those romances took turns that I completely didn't expect.

I'm just thinking I'm glad I did my first couple of play throughs BEFORE discovering these forums

On the OP's question, if we have to pick a male, then Zevran because Alistair is just too whiney, immature, and allows his emotions to rule him too much (the tantrum over Loghain was the last straw). I'd still take Leliana over any of the rest of them though. >.>

My two biggest requirements for a guy are intelligence and sense of humor. Once you understand that nearly all of his dialogue is meant to mess with the other party members, it's easy to see that Zevran wins in both departments.

When Wynne asks him about something he doesn't want to talk about (whether murder is immoral) he responds by talking aobut her bosom because he knows it will make her uncomfortable and it will make her leave him alone. He is not literally "trying to get into everyone's pants", although I don't think he would turn any of them down if they were go go for it. He's mocking them and their uptight attiitudes about sex.  I think all of his banter is hilarious.

The point where I decided between the two was the dialogue that they have if you are romancing Alistair.  If the dude can't take friendly advice on how to please a woman without literally sticking his fingers in his ears.. I want no part in that.

I thought Alistair's sarcasm was clever sarcasm. Zevran relies on shock and gross overtones in order to be funny. If you cannot be funny without offending someone, I feel you're not much of a comedian to begin with.

Look at Seinfield, I don't remember him requiring to be controversial in order to be as successful as he is right now.

finished first play with Alistair and got huge heart breaking in the end.

second with Zevran who at least doesn't give me the one.



you should see how he dump you if he become the king alone... that was so not kind to lady.

at least Zevran doesn't act like cowardly I guess because he always think what's best for him.
