Maybe it's not such an original post, but I'd like to know which are your best choice among companions and for which reasons.

As soon as I've reached Kashyyk, I've found that having Jolee with me is a must-have. He's extremely strong, has many Force Powers and he's quite good also with combat skills. Usually, I bring also Juhani or Carth, these 2 most due to the fact I had problems in triggering their side quests, so I brought them with me hoping to get more dialogues.

I've never used T3, I was too afraid it could be damaged. It's so cute ^^
So, also in the Sith base mission on Taris, I entered, killed everybody, exited, summon T3, re-entered, made T3 do what it should, then exited againd and bring another character with me.

Who did you bring with you?

HK has fun dialogue (especially with T3). It is worth it to take them to the Korriban academy. Jolee and Canderous are pretty good as well.

So, are you saying have an all-droid party? I've always thought T3 was a bit too... fragile to come around with me. The final match in Korriban, when the entire academy is against you was tough. Not for me (Wave of Force and they were all dead), but Jolee and Carth, that were alone in different rooms, were almost dead, when I entered the academy, back from the graveyard...

I'm just saying that they have some fun banter and commentary. For example, the Sith merchant wants to buy HK, and HK doesn't take it too well.

T3 is a killer with the right build/equipment. For example, the Sith boss in the Taris Sith base (the one you get the launch codes from). He uses Force powers and a shield and can be tricky. Equip T3 with a flame thrower and watch a barbecue. Not to mention T3 is immune to his mind-effects. The flame thrower completely bypasses his shield.

One of the strengths of Bioware games in general is the party members and their personalities. It also makes the game more replayable when you can experiment with various party members and builds.

And redo all the useless combat just to hear the different dialogues? o.O Maybe it's easier to reload a scene and change companions :-P I told you I find combat quite boring... :-D

Reloading is always an option. While I do occasionally reload myself, I don't mind the combat so I usually do full playthroughs.

On topic of companions, it is too bad they took Bastila out of Korriban (you were originally able to take her there, the files are still in the game directory). She had some snarky comments there.

I've read there's a mod that restored that part, so you can actually have her back on Korriban!

I like Juhani, Jolee and HK-47 the most but I typically use a melee/force support/ranged party makeup. Who I take depends on my role (either replace Juhani or Jolee).

Juhani gets force jump so she gets right into the fight which gives her an advantage over every other melee option since there's no time wasted once combat initiates. Also, even guardians can get a nice sized force pool so she's prefect just having a few go-to powers, like force armor and force speed to buff her for 20-30 seconds during combat.

Jolee gets a ridiculous amount of force powers. His powers can be nearly irresistible and because he's neutral alignment he can cast dark side powers with no penalty. Hello, force storm.

HK-47 can be the best ranged character in the game. It takes some repair skill to unlock, but man...he gets some good bonuses down the line. Even though he only gets like 4 feats (i think?) during the game, all you really need is master rapid shot.

HK-47 does get good bonuses. IF you plan ahead with him for his feats and gear, he can be excellent ranged Support character.

Juhani is a good Dodge tank due to her high Dexterity and combining Master TWF, MASTER POWER ATTACK and Lightsaber Specialization she would be excellent offensive Jedi Guardian.

Usually, my strongest party is made up of myself, Juhani and Jolee. It's incredible the amount of enemies we kill even before approaching them! The only problem is that Juhani has too few Force points, so me and Jolee have to wait for her to recover.

To Vaalyah, that is why Feat selection is important. So to compliment the cool downs of your force points during and after the battle.

Yes, but being a Jedi consular means I have very few feats in battle. In every GPR I tend to be a very "melee" character, so this time I've focused on powers that could have given me the strong approach I was missing due to few combat feats. I was shocked when I've noticed that even with this limitation, I was the strongest fighter in the game o.O

Late game, if you are a dedicated Lightsaber Duelist, there are several good crystals and I do think Caradoc has mention them in another thread. And For Vibro Blade lovers there are several late game Vibro Blades.

Oh, my lightsaber was wonderful (Mantle of the Force + Dragon Pearl), it is just that I don't even *need* to use it. I entered a room full of enemies, Force Wave, Force Wave, Force Wave. All dead. Juhani doesn't even reached the nearer one o.O
That was incredible! :-o

Force Wave is a beautiful Force technique....So is Horror, Force Storm and Stasis Field.

In fact in KotOR2 I've chosen the power line that leads to Force Storm. It's interesting against group of enemies :-)

Passive bonuses and force potency make a consular hilariously dominant in kotor 2. I like playing as a gun user in that game though, because its so much more viable than it is in kotor.

"hilariously dominant" you know, it is a word choice that I like :-D
Now, in KotOR2, my problem is just to choose a prestige class... I'd like Master, but I am not sure it is convenient. :-/
What do you mean with "gun user"? Are you using a blaster instead of a lightsaber?

Yes that is what he is talking about. In Kotor 2, the Upgrading system is much better than it is in Kotor 1 where it is game breaking.

Jedi Master: Nice Force Inspiring Ability. Doesn't get lightsaber forms like the Watchman or WeaponMaster, gets Powerful Force Forms.

Jedi Watchman: Good Stealth, good skills, good Sneak attack. Gets Niman(think well balance)

Jedi WeaponMaster: Superb Lightsaber/Melee Work, Gets Juyo Lightsaber(think total offensive)

Jedi Guardian, WeaponMaster, Marunder: Ataru(works well with Power Attack), Shien(works well with Critical Strike), Juyo(works well with Flurry)

Jedi Sentinel, Watchman, Assassin: Shien, Ataru and Niman(personal choice)

Jedi Consular, Jedi Master, Sith Lord: Force forms.

sorry but, this is my first playthrough in kotor 2 and I'm only in Telos so... I don't even know what are you talking about ^_^`
And I don't want spoilers so... I'll ask when I'll be further in the game :-p

I am not going to tell you how or where you are getting the Force Forms, Lightsaber forms or Presitge classes.

To Get a Presitge class:

Dedicated Light sided or Dedicated Dark Sided.

Level 15

then someone or something will tell you about them.

As for the Light saber forms and Force Forms, They will be easy to find.

So it is automatic once I get to level 15! Ok, now I'm feeling better: I'd thought I've already missed something :-D
(Still, I want a lightsaber: from this point of view, the game is so frustrating!)

As long as you are a dedicated Light sider or Dedicated Dark Sider and talk to all of your companions regularly. They will lead you something positive gameplay wise and just say I can't tell you what they are.

Yes you can complete the game with a pure Jedi base class regardless of alignment.

End game there will be 1 scene. Light Siders and Grey Siders will get a certain ability. Dark siders will get another. Just say, it is an solid ability so no matter what class or class combination or Build, Either ability is quite good.
