Blade Runner is on SyFy today, if you love sci fi and have never seen this movie watch it. Ridley Scott directed science fiction is amazing. The only alternative director is James Cameron of course.

Blade Runner is one of my favorite movies ever.

Still hard to believe it came out in the early 80's. Very easy to see that it inspired the Mass Effect series in many ways. This film was way ahead of its time.

That's a shame. It's a thinking man's sci fi, most of it's themes are too deep for the average movie goer. Harrison Ford was perfect in that movie.

Its timeless really. You could watch it 200 years from now and it would still be groundbreaking.

I think the Replicants help with being able to understand exactly what a synthesised being is. Ridley Scott was tackling the theme of organic beings and synthetics 30 years prior to Mass Effect. I agree absolutely timeless mind blowing.

Ridley Scott if your out there, either make Mass Effect your next film or make another Blade Runner Please!

Friend of mine would never stop squeeing. And if Natalie Portman played Jack to boot. She might damn well faint.

So the previously quoter who put Megan Fox. I ask, why do you hate Tali? What has she ever done to deserve Megan Fox?

To OP:

Christopher Nolan is a nonsensical choice for Director.  Hes good at making mind **** movies like Memento and Inception, not space operas.  I'd say James Cameron or Riddley Scott make more sense, and even then those are top list directors I doubt would bother with a video game licensed project.  Peter Jackson would also be interesting going from fantasy to scifi, I think he could do it pretty well, but again I doubt he would.

The biggest name I could see possibly having interest in it (though who's contracted for the next few years so it would have to wait a while) is Joss Whedon.  Far more likely though a lesser director will do it, somebody most of us wouldn't even be familiar with.  Probably a director of one of those numerous ****ty comic lisenced movies in recent years, uhg.

Whatever happens I'll still watch it but unless I'm suprised and a top list director jumps on board, I'm going to expect it to be bad and thus watch it drunk.

It will also be groundbreaking in 400 years when the synthetics have killed all the creators.

Peter Jackson: YES
Christopher Nolan: NO, Unless you REALLY liked the ending of ME3 and want more
James Cameron: NO. He would change too much.
Ridley Scott: Has other plans.
Joss Weldon: Yes, but has very bad luck with sc-fi.
Ellen Page = Ash: NOOOOOO
Jon Favreau: Maybe

Please, just make it CGI/Motion capture like Pandora. Live action is not going to work. Trust me. No live action video game movie has made it further then two steps out of the starting gate before breaking all four legs and dying horribly.

Maybe, his LOTR was very faithful to the books, and stuff he'd remove would not be missed most likely.

He chose Destroy. That makes him a solid favourite.

James Cameron: NO. He would change too much.

FemShep! Lots of harsh language and Ash would croak on Virmire. Someone get this man into the directing chair!

Ridley Scott: Has other plans.

That'd be like ripping off himself.

Joss Weldon: Yes, but has very bad luck with sc-fi.

The one major thing I loved about ME1 was that it has just enough quantity of emo, which is too little for Whedon. I love what the man did with the Avengers and Firefly, but he tends to cling waaaay too tightly to the shocking tearjerkers. I'd fully expect him to kill off Wrex, Kaidan AND Ashley.

Jon Favreau: Maybe

Agreed.

Also, why no love for Matthew Vaughn or Bryan Singer?

A lot is going to be changed regardless.

I mentioned him merely because its more his MO to do epic scifi.

Speaking of which I'd nominate him for Admiral Hackett potentially, maybe Liam Neeson as well. I would say Lance should do it, but if for some reason he can't I think either of those two would be good substitutes.

Alan Tudyk needs to be in it somewhere.

He could be Jenkins  First Reavers, now Geth whom worship Reapers...

As for other roles, I think some of the VAs could easily replicate their characters roles, people such as Keith David, Lance Henriksen, Seth Green would all be fitting I think even if Lance and Keith don't look exactly like their counterparts. I also think it'd make sense for the people who clearly can't be played by actors due to their race or such should be played by their VAs too. Talking bout Krogan, Salarian and Turians mostly and Quarians wear a mask so might as well maintain Liz Sroka as Tali with of course Brandon Keener, Fred Tatasciore and Alistair Duncan as Garrus, Saren and Nihlus/Sparatus respectively. Not to mention Steven Barr as Wrex.

Edit: @Zulufoxtrot, nah Rutger Hauer would be better as Hackett than Harrison Ford if going for a substitute for Lance Henriksen

If its made I would probably go see it...unless Liara is the love interest for the movie. If she is the LI, I am going to avoid the movie like the plague.
