 I don’t know if this
has been posted before but i have always chosen  to be a mage and one of
the reasons is because the mage warden is an amell and hawke too so i was
thinking if they were going to do the same thing in DA3 does anyone know?

Personally I hope not. Linking it between 2 games was fine, but if they keep doing it then it just ruins the effect.

Agreed. Though it's already been linked. I believe in one of the DA2 codex it was stated that all of that particular Amell cousin's children were mages and they not only took every single one, they scattered them over different Circles.

It may not be in DA3 that you are an Amell, but I could see it.  This time however, I think i'd like my PC to have more of a memory of her family than DAO's did.

I hope not as well. If there must be a connection, let it be with one of the other origins.

But I'd rather they not do fanservice and just create a really good story.

I kinda do, a family of mages saving Thedas appeals to me and making them look a little similar is fun but yeah it's also a bit hokey.

I'd rather it not be an Amell. That would make 3 of Thedas's champions/saviors from the same family. It would be like one big family of heroes.

I hope it is Morrigan's child. Then, if you import a male warden that romanced her and followed her into the portal... in the Witch Hunt, then she mentions him to her son (you).

That's what I liked about Hawke and the Amell warden being related.  It was a family of heroes.

This! And it feels like the Amell are important in Thedas like if they are fated to something.

If we are a fixed hero like Hawke, then no, not again. If we are given the ability to choose background either through race or separate origins for human only characters, It should be an option.

Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame. I don't play mage in DA:O anyway, so I don't give a crap about the Amells. Having them involved in every single thing that happens is just nonsensical.

I'd actually like a protagonist related to one of the other Origins if they're going to go that route. Have it be a cousin or other distant relation to Cousland, or Mahariel, or Aeducan, etc. DA:O establishes that these characters exist whether you played them or not so why not mix it up. Let the Amell line die with Gamlen and Charade.

No. That ventures into the "Chosen One" territory.
Too big a concidence.

Greatest heroes of Thedas, all involed in the most significant and wonderous/rare event - all from the same family?
NO:

After reading all of these responses, I can safely say I have no idea! On the one hand it does seem a bit silly, on the other it's a fun idea. I suppose I'll be happy either way.

I agree if we have a fixed protagonist again (likely) don't make them related to the Amells. I don't really like Skywalker syndrome where every major character is somehow related to a specific family.

It'd be cool if another Origin got some love like one of the elves or a Cousland (Bryce did occasionally go to Orlais) just so it's not like Bioware favores a certain origin.

Human Mage and Dwarf Commoner are the only origins I haven't played :P so yeah :P I actually find playing mages boring, unless they can be warriors, too. Usually if I play mage Hawke I mod him so he can wear cool armor and use a sword or daggers.

But I guess if that were an OPTION for those who want to play a mage ... I wouldn't mind.

It would be cool if we were a relative of the cut class from origins, where you're either a farmer or a chasind. The farmer living in Redcliff at the beginning. I saw a youtube video of the human commoner talking to Cailan at the beginning of Ostagar, and he inquires on how Eamon's preparations are for Ostagar.
