Who is in charge of keeping the Alliance together after the Udina dies in the Coup?  Is there any reference I missed as to who takes the helm of the Alliance?

Hackett is the Leader of the Alliance (as he is the leader of the alliance military and the whole chain of command is in shambles, he likely declared martial law).

But the council seat was given to that guy in the embassy who wants you to find evidence of his dead son or whatever... I can't remember his name but Avina states he is "acting councilor".

A sandwich to whoever can remember that dudes name.

Well, I know that he is in charge of the Alliance's Armed Forces, but he is focused mainly on the Cruicible project and the War Effort.  I am wondering who was left in charge of the Political Leadership of the Alliance after Udina.

"Dominic Osuba" or something like that is the new human representative on the Citadel. He's the human ambassador and you help find his son's dogtags in a side mission

I'd assume he inheritted all of Udina's roles in name only, Hackett for all intents and purposes after the coup is the autocrat of humanity.

Dominic Osoba, thats the guys name, he is acting councilor in Udina's absence, just ask Avina after Udina is killed

Earth still has individual governments on earth. The Alliance oversee's all that too. it never truely says it, but Hackett probably declared martial law after the attack

Most of the Alliance political leadership was wiped out on Earth or Arcturus Station. It's not clear how far down the succession list they had to go to find a survivor.

So there's Hackett and a couple other admirals, Osoba..... not much else.

Actually, it's not really clear how the SA operates.

Pretty much Hackett. He is the Fleet Admiral in charge of the entire Alliance Navy and I assume that earth and its colonies are under Marshall Law since it's wartime and all the governments are gone.

I don't know what you did, Commander, but it must not have been conventional, because if it was conventional, it wouldn't have worked, because we're not going to be winning this conventionally.

Lance Henriksen =/= Hackett.

Now, don't get me wrong, I loved me some Hackett in ME1 and ME2, and he only showed up via radio and a DLC, but ME3's Hackett went stupid. I can't blame the VA, duh, but the character and thus the writer? Oh hell yeah.
