I know some people here have given up on Bioware after their recent streak of dissapointments. But for those of us who still hold out hope that Dragon Age 3 may be good, what improvements do you hope Bioware will implement in the sequel? My main one is:

Livelier environments - Next time you do a city Bioware, try not to make it so lifeless. Less like this:

And more like this:

That's Rome btw from Assassin's Creed Brotherhood.

More unique envirnoments and more diverse consequences to your actions.  I enjoyed engaging with the characters in DA2 but they always ended up in the same situation regardless of how you handle them.

Deeper combat, more organic locales, a longer game, more engaging story, better inventory system, more complex (games are way to dumbed down nowadays).

Major Improvements:

1. Better (and more) side quests. In DA2, many side quests were implemented in a way that did not feel like quests at all. The player would find an object in a dungeon and then much later in the game, a random NPC in the street would suddenly give the player gold. Then you would have to try to review the quest log to figure out why they gave you gold.

2. More varied environments and level design

3. More joinable factions and more interesting faction choices / faction questlines

4. Endings reflecting faction choices

5. Release Modding Tools and platform for sharing and downloading mods (through Origin, for example)

6. Allow greater character customization, different races, different economic backgrounds, etc., with Origin stories. This was a tremendous enhancement to the replay value of DA:O.

Minor Improvements:

1. More sensible and interesting loot items (no Fire Staff with +5 Cold Damage)

2. Deeper, more balanced and fun crafting system that makes crafting a viable alternative to relying on found potions and items.

3. More interactive clutter and game world objects

Gameplay-make it more tactical, and other Origins gameplay features such as fatigue for the armor you wear and armor penetration
Better characters and companions-No more characters like Anders or Fenris who just whine through out the entire game. And don't make them do stupid decisions like Orsino turning into a Harvester, despite the fact that you sided with the mages.
Items-Bring back the tier list for armor and weapons(Iron,Steel,Veridium,Dragonbone etc.)Bring back Massive Armor, get rid of the item leveling that DA2 had(what's the point of making unique items if a plain longsword sold by a merchant becomes more powerful later on in the game >:P)
Better Side Quests-Seriously the side quests in DA2 were pathetic compared to the ones in Origins.
Friendship/Rivalry Meter-This is one of the few things I like about DA2(I hated kissing everyones ass in Origins)but it just felt incomplete in the game.Just make a few tweaks and improvements to the meter.
Story-Just don't make it all about Mages and Templars and I'm sure 95% of the DA community will be happy lol
Graphics-Get rid of the damn DA2 graphics,it made customized characters look horrible.
Protagonist-I would say keep the new protagonist faceless so we can make him/her our own character like The Warden, though I doubt that will happen.
Choices-Make our choices actually matter like in Origins,no matter what you did in DA2 the end result was pretty much always the same.

the problem is making so many npcs walking around will hugely hamper the gameplay. as you know, Dragon age is designed towards party based combat and it will need open grounds to set up encounters. I do not think Dragon age need live environments like Assassin's creed or the witcher 2.

the things Dragon Age really need to improve is varied maps/areas with strategic positions, solid party-based mechanics, and stats-driven character progression (not limited to combat).

Let them make it full action combat with soap opera writing.
That way at least we dont need to follow DA3, wondering what will it become.

I hope it will be more like origins, with different races and starting stories and make the darkspawns the main enemies again

Problem doing this in a game were you control a party is that the party members will get stuck on NPC's and get seperated from your team, walk around the citadel in ME 1 for an example.

Tweek the art and tweek the Dialogue wheel. Specifcally include Neutral options for better role playing.

If they aren't already set in stone on most things in the development process.

Me3 had a lot of people in the citadel just minding their business and talking, if they did that with the cities in DA3 I would be happy.

- Take it off the rails. Games are meant to be played, not to play themselves.
- Bring back choice and consequence.
- Allow some actual exploration, instead of set paths.
- Ditch the worthless loot and FedEx quests. We all know they're filler.
- Take more time with the writing.
- And for the love of all that is holy, find someone that knows how to draw hands!

1: Continuity
Come on David Gaider. Drop the whole "those choices were only rumors" or "they'll accept it eventually" attitude. This pissed people off in both Awakening and Dragon Age 2. Decide if you're going to do imports or a set canon in the next game. You can't have both.

2: Gameplay
I really hated how every single lowlife thug can afford a small army of bodyguards, but can't pay off a one gold debt. Despite what they've said at the PAX, I have a feeling that this isn't the last of this type of combat...

3: Dialogue wheel
Please just get rid of it....

DA3 needs a controller UI for the PC, BW fans should not have to buy console versions of the game just to play with the UI that is more comfortable for them. This will go a long way towards preserving the ability for fans to control their experience.

I agree, especially with the hands from hell part.
Well ok, not really: I could forgive a lot for a great story and characters with more than one thought/obsession, even horrible 90-year-old hands.

Livelier environments would be nice. Less re-use of maps would also be lovely.

More importantly, a greater attention to story coherence would be good as well as allowing the player greater and more meaningful choices. (as opposed to Act 3 of DA2).

Increased interaction with the other characters, especially companions and even more especially the love interest, would be very nice indeed.

Greater ease in modding as compared to DA2 (DAO had a released toolset) could improve the game immensely.

Optional 4 Player Co-op for the main campaign.

Less dull questing. Roleplaying a glorified errand boy just isn't the kind of thing I thought I'd be doing in DA2.

And do I have to return to a companion's home base to talk to them? Long loading screens make this even more irritating.
