I am okey with the Catalyst. Although i want to talk more to it. Understand it better. I guess he is a shackled AI that was built on weird thoughts and therefore is a fault itself. I think he is aware of this problem but he must do what he was created to do.

An AI gone evil. Kinda.

I don't hate the Catalyst as a concept, I just don't like that they chose to try to force the little boy symbol instead of making it the Virmire victim or just a regular Reaper-esque AI.

I disagree about that it shouldn't have been the boy. I liked it, because I thought it made it connect with the beginning and the dreams. When you first see him, you're wondering what exactly is going on. Is it another dream? The ghost of the child? And then you realize it's not the child. Just an avatar for the Reapers. An attempt to manipulate you with the image of a child they murdered. And even more horrifying, they gained that image from your mind. No one knows your connection to that kid specifically. Yet they do. Plus, it's a nod to the Star Child in 2001. Maybe even Red Queen from Resident Evil.

There's no catalyst around here. There's a bloody mess, but no catalyst.

The true catalyst would deny being the catalyst.

Hence, 'e's not the catalyst. 'e's a very naughty boy.

For those who don't hate the concept of the Catalyst, and for those who welcome the Catalyst.

Shocked?

I can't explain it to well. He's just there and I have no problem with it. I like the scene, the conversation, the music. I don't have to agree with what it wanted in order to like how this part of the plot was shown.

I picked Destroy for crying out loud, but I still like that moment in time.

Note: I haven't scene the EC for My Story yet.

I felt the conversation was a high point as well: it wrapped up all the mysteries of the Mass Effect universe and allowed us to choose a new future for it in light of the choices we made in the previous two games.

I don't hate the Catalyst at all. In fact, I was quite interesting in hearing what he had to say, and the choice he presented to me was the hardest choice I've ever had to make in a videogame.

I'm okay with the Catalyst, though the way Bioware introduced it and the role they gave it was far from perfect in any way imaginable. Personally I think if Bioware introduced it earlier, with some parts of it's motives rewritten to make it look more like a wild card/potential ally/forced cooperation needed to win the war, people would be more accepting of it.

The Catalyst? Bad idea implemented horribly.

I'm just really not for trusting the reapers also introducing someone who controls the reapers this late in the series kinda brings up issues from the past 2 games

The concept of the Catalyst was interesting.

The execution of the Catalyst conversation in the original endings made me question the writers' sanity.

Parts of the Catalyst conversation in the EC endings still make me question that.

In the end, I can live with it now since I like the outcome of the new endings very much and Shepard asks some questions in the EC, so I've made my peace with it.

But I hate vent kid. It represents everything that's wrong with ME3. The Catalyst assuming its form does nothing to recommend it to me.

I'm fine with the Catalyst post EC now. It IS the main antagonist of the series, killing and enslaving its own creators (which in a way proves its assertions, ironically).

I would never touch Synthesis from now on as it's the one ending that leaves the Catalyst alive and intact.

I don't have a problem with it. In fact I find everything about it very interesting and am glad that story is in the game.

Would have been more effective if, during those dream sequences, having it mock Shepard the way Harbinger did (creepy disembodied voice). Then when you finally meet the thing, there will be more of a relationship between it and Shepard.

Does it? I've never seen it that way.

Does it really matter what form it takes? It's clearly taking a form and voice that Shepard can understand by doing a scan on his/her brainwaves. It was pretty clear right off the bat for me and certainly didn't get in the way of my enjoyment of the conversation. Probably helps that I don't hate kids the way some people seem to do.

That's actually interesting to think about especially now that EC is out. No reason why the Catalyst can't be a part of the post Synthesis galaxy the same way Reapers are.

The thing about the Catalyst is just what a limited creature it really is. In terms of its ability to perceive and conceptualize the universe and the place it and others hold within it, the Catalyst hardly even registers as sentient compared to us.

The Catalyst itself is a big part of what makes Synthesis so conceptually ridiculous. It's a proof in fact of how, as a way for organics to "move forward", fusing with synthetics would be much more like tying an anchor around our collective waist.
