Rhythm of Combat and Non-Combat--Off a bit?

I love this game, but I feel the rhythm of combat and non combat seems to me a bit off.  Having a full time job and a bit of life, I typically play DA:O in 2 hour sessions.  I regularly find that I can spend an entire session just on exposition, talking and shopping, and then find the next two session pure unalleviated dungeon crawl and combat.

This seems to me off.  I would prefer to alternate the two more regularly.  Games as different as BG series, KotoR and Mass Effect seemed to me to do a much better job of not giving me either nothing but non-combat or nothing nut combat for long stretches.

Anyone else have a similar reaction, or think I am all wet on this?
