So here it is! My first ever CC creation/project aside from an uncompleted sword made via the 'Making a Sword' tutorial, that was reposted by Carcerian.

Here are the energy bows, or well the progress of such! :unsure: I only have the blue done so far, im still tweaking it, and there will be many more colors! Along with possibly a special variation of the energy bows which is a total secret right now!

Here are the screenshots, taken at night for dark contrasting viewing pleasure:

Wow!  Those look great!  Two suggestions which I think will probably be easy for you given the work you've put in already: First, using P2P with Bezier curves for the movement of the emitted particles to your refnode.  Technically, it could be a pain in the butt to get looking right but it would give a much more natural curve, IMO.  Second, doing something similar to Gaoneng's emitter-based shields, but for bows. You could use clip art (like this or this) to get the base graphics.

Two thumbs up, very nice idea!

After many long hours, many questions guided towards the more experienced CC creators of NWN - most of which were fruitless - I have finished (for the most part) the energy bow project! I will be posting more about them later, but here are the screenshots:

Here's all the bows in one screenshot, including the infamous invisible bow (for special purposes) and my test character in her undies riding a fake pony!

Here's a closeup; a special one at that. This is a  bow I did specifically for somebody, and thus am calling the 'Ryan Fantastic Bow'. Hope you like it, Ryan!

Do the projectiles released from the bow also become pure energy as they fly across the screen to the creature ahead?

Looks great never-the-less!

Nahce.

The invisible bow could be useful for Usain Bolt roleplay.

FP,

The model that flies towards the creature is defined by ammuniontypes.2da

e.g. the chakram model that's out on the vault looks like a chakram in hand.. when thrown, it's a throwing axe in air and stuck in the creature.

So for it to look like a shot of pure energy, it would have to change every projectile of that particular type (e.g. electrical arrow)

@FP,

What the guy above me said!

And woohoo! They are now released to the public!

~Features:
-16 different colors for the energy bows
-capable of mix and matching some colors to make new colors (works moderately well)
-invisible
bow parts (needed to make the different colors work, and also useful if
you want to make it look like your character is firing arrows from
their sleeve or hand.
-can be selected easily on the ground (even the invisible bow can be selected)
-special rune icons for the bows, to give them that unique feel
-longbows only (for this version at least)
-uses 9 color weapon part system by default, and takes up parts 15 and 16 for the bow parts

~Upcoming:
-short bow versions
-animated bowstrings
-secret addition to energy bows for some extra optional pizazz

~Known Issues:
-black energy bows have minor clipping issues, hardly noticable
-black
energy bows cannot be used with the optional highlights to make
different colors as planned (such as green + black = dark green)
-bowstrings do not move in this version

Can be found in my projects or here: http://neverwinter.n...ds.com/mods/208

Also here's some visuals just for the sake of the thread.

Very nice, Dusty!  Your finished bows are leaps and bounds better looking than your prototypes.  Did you wind up goiing with P2P to get that curve or something else?

@OTR,

Well after gmax kept crashing trying to do what I thought you told me to do, I gave up and then did it fully manually. But I'm glad you like it.

I'm not sure what you were doing but FWIW there shouldn't be any problems with either GMax or NWN crashing when using P2P Bezier emitters on a bow.

I'm a bit surprised at the low number of downloads for this - 1 from the projects section of these boards and 16 from the nexus. Surely more people like them than that?

@TR,

I'm not too concerned, as long as some people are enjoying them, and if a server uses them, that means plenty of people are using them technically!

@henesua,

I am glad you are getting some benefit out of them though! That's all that matters, as long as SOMEBODY is enjoying them.

And also everybody! I am starting to learn animations now, in the process of making something for the September CCC, so I hope I won't be in such a stagnant position later on, and I will be able to get those bowstrings done finally. Can't say when I'll get around to it, but at least I'm not as clueless as I was when I started! :D
