Will say only this: all ME2 squad. While I even like Vega or EDI ( except silly romance ) I would prefer to have my old companions with me. Samara, Jack, Thane ( my LI ), Zaeed, Kasumi, Miranda even Jacob-theirs so called come back was pathetic. Also I could gladly spend more time with Mordin and Grunt. I miss them a lot in ME3.Nicsienieda wrote...

So, for example, Liara or Ashley don't count, as they are in the squad in ME3.
For me EASILY Samara. What a powerful character. Such great stories could have
been told! Pity.

Thane got royally screwed over in my eyes, no option to save him, no explainations, no real difference in the romance part from the friendship, non remembers him.
Jacob's just as badly treated really, but since I never cared much for him he's not a big issue to me, but I can really understand how his fans might feel.

From what I got so far, the Liaramancers only are complaining about the fact half of the scenes with romantic undertone are "generic scenes" available to everyone making her romance less meaningful. Well, I heard such statement more than once, but I don't know if EVERY fan of Liara feels that way.
Huh, that’s interesting – I actually thought that the best tone-setting parts of the game were that all of the romances (even the ones with the least content) had those subtle little extra lines/gestures that are added to the generic scenes.
I would totally buy both too, but I wonder if they couldn’t just package them together (like Helix’s old Multiverse comics ) – that way fans of either character would be buying the same product and they wouldn’t have to worry about sales of one versus the other. And they would more obviously be alternate universes, so it might cut back on whining about which one is the canon VS. Either way, that’s a tie-in that I’d love to see published.Either BW plans to release two separate comics, one for Kaidan, one for Ashley (I would buy both, by the way!) with their respective stories (which should differ, to make worth buying both!)

Jack by far. BW introduces us to a strong woman who doesn't take crap from anyone, not even Shepard, giving her a great background story and everything. Then they take her away from us giving her fans about 15mins thoughout the whole game to actually interact with her. I hated this so much, such a deep interesting character and nothing was done to capitalize on her romance or just her in general. I'm so disappointed.
One thing that I’m conflicted about when it comes to complaining about the roles of the ME2 crew is that I thought Jack’s parts where actually really well done – I liked what they did with the character development and the style change and I thought the romance-specific bits were convincing (in general, but especially compared to Jacob/Thane). It’s just a shame that there was so little of it there when what was there was as good as it was.

liked ME2 with these ones the most, shame even in ME3 Klicking On Characters to Speak to them, Nothing.. But its not in the script so they Don't Respond < so thats Less Dialogue, In my Opinion,
Seqences Cut like "Cinamatic Qaulity" yes thats Fine, But i would of liked to Have More comunication Between crew Members, Great Grafics In the game, But some things left out.
could of done a lot more with it. so it's true, for the sake of game play. wish they game us the Option to Include the Characters We liked the most In the Game. and be able to use Modify Utility
Not only on Shepard Could also be used to create Changes look, ect On EDI.

Ashley (also Kaidan)
That's why she counts. She's in your squad, true. After she got removed for the first half of the game. And as soon as she's back, she feels like a DLC character, like an extra. An extra you can use in your squad. But if you never romanced her and don't intend to do so, she has nothing to give. The "best friend vibe" she had with fem!Shep in ME1 is gone and for male!Shep she's working best as romance. If you don't romance her, there's no need to recruit Ash after the coup.
And yeah, that comes from a die-hard Ashley fan.
And she gets less character development than Kaidan, she's suffering from "she's *hot now, so that means we don't have to bother with her character!"
*Except she isn't. The first publicity shot BW released of her on Facebook, the first thing I thought was "OMG, it's Victoria Beckham, gag!"

Sure, the ME2 characters got cameos in ME3 compared to full squad mate status, but compare their cameos to the cameos Ashley, Liara, Kaidan, and Wrex got in ME2. All of the ME2 squadmates got better cameos, with the exceptions of Jacob and Morinth.
Also there was far too many squadmates to account for. Most of us should have expected that most of the potential squadmates would not be joining the team for ME3, just by virtue of there being too many of them.
If there is a lesson there that should carry over into Mass Effect 4, is that if you are doing a trilogy you should keep the same core group of squadmates through all three games, minus perhaps a casualty or two. If you do a suicide mission, you save it for the last game. And you do not introduce an entirely new cast of characters in the second installment, as it creates too many variables that can't be accounted for in the third game.

LanceSolous speaks the truth!
If you took the paragon route with Jack and didn't romance her then her parts in ME3 are all brilliant. I agree with an earlier poster that her new settled down teacher persona doesn't quite make sense if you renegaded her in ME2, and her final scene is brilliant for non-romancers and a bit of a letdown for romancers.
Thane has a terrible meeting seen but also gets a cool fight scene and an excellent death scene (if you completed his loyalty mission). All in all okay I suppose, unless you romanced him.
Mordin got a pretty good send-off and I suppose Legion got an okay deal too (though personally I didn't like how they both did bizarre U-Turns on their mantras of ME2).
Everyone else from ME2 and the VS were implemented poorly IMO.

Yes, Thane. I couldn't even finish the game after the first meeting. It was that bad from the start.

Well, for me it's a full set of characters:
Grunt
His role in ME3 is more or less a cameo. You can't even use him as temporary squadmate in that mission and he doesn't join your crew after you did the job.
Samara
For those who wanted her to be a LI, ME3 was disappointing in every possible way.
Zaeed & Kasumi
Seriously: that's it?
Jack
I never cared for Jack that much, but her new role in ME3 was interesting and I'd have loved to see more of her.
Jacob
Without words
Miranda
I want her back!
Ashley (also Kaidan)

Tali
Returns too late to the Normandy ...
Thane
Cameo role and no way to save his ass. I like that Drell and -really- want to have at least a chance to save him, even if he can't return to the Normandy.
Liara, Garrus, Mordin and the new guys had quite decent roles.
+1 on most of this. It's the reason I plan to intentionally let a couple characters die during the Suicide Mission on my next playthrough. It will fit perfectly with the Sole Survivor backstory for a few to die anyway, and frankly, some of the stories would have a more fitting end if they just die at the Collector Base. In particular...Zaeed, Kasumi, and Jacob. Their ME3 appearances are so weak and so...wtf...that I'd rather they just not make it through the end of ME2.
I think I'm in the very small minority of folks who is okay with Thane being unsaveable in ME3. He was dying anyway...I'm okay with him giving up his life to save the Dalatrass and Shepard. I'll acknoledge, however, that if you romanced him in ME2, his appearance in ME3 is lame, lame, lame. He was never a LI for me, though, so I'm not as hot on that issue.

Yeah, that's right. Kinda feels odd s/he's talking that much without any player influence. I consider this as one of the biggest flaws and the strongest hint ME3 is no RPG anymore but a third person shooter with RPG elements.

Unfortunately BioWare left many outstanding NPC's on the sidelines
Gianna Parsini, love her
Lieutenant Tarquin Victus. He had such potential. We should have been able to save his life and recruit him in ME3. Karl Reegar. I was totally expecting him to be a squadmate and love interest for FemShep in ME3. Instead all we get is a text message concerning his death. Lame.....
Let's see who else, Emily Wong. I have a thread devoted to her. Shiala. Another character reduced to a text message in ME3.
Dr. Okeer had so much more to offer. Commander Santiago gets replaced by the lame ass Darner Vosqe. The enigmatic, powerful and mysterious Shadow Broker get's replaced by Dr. Liara T' Soni. Meh...
