Why i think MP characters should have 4th weapon option

here's why i think about it. imagine if you are in the heavy fighting on Gold or Plat, when you are cornered by the enemy, you have to fight hard to keep them at bay. but what happens if you are not near an ammo crate? your primary weapon is out of ammo, you switch to your shotgun, and fight, but eventally run out of ammo. you switch to your sniper rifle and run afar, turn and snipe, rise and repeat. but  run out of ammo, you switch again, this time to your secondary gun. after all heavy fighting, you succeded, but with shocking realization.. your secondary gun had 6 shots left enough. you made it out of the battle. aside from that.. (Why Theory)

Currently, the MP Characters are limited to only 2 weapons. i mean, in SP, you hold up to 5 weapons.
why was MP characters limited to 2? what was the reason why behind this?

if MP Characters weapon limit was raised to 4th, it would allow our characters to use 1 of 4 weapons that players has selected on their weapon selections. it would enable us to stay in fight and fight longer than to running to ammo crates to reload after each fight. it would cut down the running to ammo crates by  least 6% of time. if we ran out of ammo on one of our weapons we switch to one. it would benefit us to pool in enough firepower to defeat enemies. The Missile weapon does not count, it counts as an 3rd weapon option in MP for hard targets why?

so think about it. would't it be nice to have at least 4 weapons for use in MP?

Personally I was pretty shocked the first time I played multiplayer and saw that I could only use 2 weapons.

That being said, it is probably a xbox/playstation resources / bandwidth issue, and that's why you can only play with 2 weaps.

Have you tried pressing the "8"-key (or the equivalent on your preferred console)?

maybe, but can't someone at Bioware tell us why it was limited to 2? hopefully here will be answer to this.

It was limited to 2 weapons so X would be the only button required to switch between weapons. At least thats my guess

Consoles can only change between more than two weapons on a Pause Screen/Power Wheel/something that requires freezing ingame time.

This isn't available in their multiplayer, as the change weapon key in multiplayer only swaps between the last-used weapons (if there were 3 weapons available, you'd only be able to swap between two).

It's basically a case of something that makes no sense to be without on PC, but because it can't be put in on consoles it can't go on PC either. Maybe someone can explain it better than I can, but we can't have more than 2 weapons in MP because consoles don't have access to something they do in Singleplayer.

4 is just too much, you're not meant to be a walking weaponry. Though, I think pure soldier class should be able to carry 3 weapons

did't you know in SP you can switch weapons with X button just press X few times it switch to any one of your weapons.

It's because there would be no way to map the weapon switches, since in mp you just hold x to alternate between the 2 weapons. You can't do that with 3 weapis; you would have to go through 2 equips to get the weapon you want to use.

It's the thermal clip pack hotkey.

As in, the one you use when you run out of ammo.

Also, in SP, only shepard can rquip 5; squaddies can only use 2.

Shepard is the best soldier in the galaxy, unlike the mp characters, it makes sense that he has an advantage like that.

Xbox live, and Playstation live (whatever its called on playstation) really limit user bandwidth. They force developers into limit bandwidth usage because they don't want to overtax their networks. That's why other games like BF3 only allow 24 players on the consoles vs 64 on PCs. Adding additional weapons to each player would use up more bandwidth.

Obviously i am only making an educated guess, but i think it is a good one.

Nope. I played a Vanguard and only used a shotgun.

If you have 3 weapons, the 3rd must be a Heavy Pistol. You would onyl draw it once one weapon is completely depleted of spare ammo. 4 weapons is a bit too much I think.

That, and I think the Multiplayer display screen is already statically 2, and would probably be too hard to change.

Um... More weaps on load out would be cool and all, but not for the reason you listed. The answer to the issue of ammo that you posed is thermal clip packs. Which I really only ever use for the grenade refill. Besides most of these maps are so small that you are never really that far from an ammo crate if you run and gun, and most camp spots have an ammo crate or 2 just a few steps away.

In previous games you could carry 4 weapons and a HUGE heavy weapon and they didn't even affect your powers one bit.

The only possible Lore-related reason is personal preference, which is why Liara only uses Pistols and SMG's for example. That and apparently changing weapons is really hard on consoles, so giving squadmates more than two would be nuts.

I don't even use my squadmates to be honest... they're just eyecandy. Console gameplay shows people really spamming their powers though, maybe that's how it's done on consoles?

 did you hear that BF4 would allow 64 players on consoles (althrough it's just rumor, but not denied by DICE)

back on topic, i think it's probably an online mapping issues me thinks

 well try that when you are cornered by 4 Geth Primes when you are just 50 steps away from the ammo crates upstair.

You aren't supposed to be good at everything. Shepard gets five weapons because he's basically a one-man army, and it takes a toll on your recharge.

Shepard has "superhuman" traits and he's meant to be overpowered ^_^
normal N7 operatives are tough but not even close to Shepard

Speaking of the SP... Squaddies can only carry 2 weapons. Shep is the only guy/gal in ME3 that can carry more than 2 weapons.

Thermal clip packs! They're not just there for show. 

There are good reasons for why characters might be able to carry more weapons, but running out of ammo isn't one of them.
