I'm highly tempted to get the guide just for the art and quirky little extra infos... but most likely all the info needed will be here or on gamefaqs or some other site soon enough.

When I buy guides it's usually for collector's purposes. In a game like this it could come in handy and I might actually use it after a playthrough or two. Plus, the extras seem decent.

I've got the (hopefully hardback) CE game guide on pre-order from Amazon. First time I've ever bought a game guide.

Do we get a proper printed paper manual in DAO? I like to have a book that I can study all the spells, talents, skills whilst away from the computer! :) If not, then I'll have the game guide available.

I'd get it to collect, but not use. I'd rather just search for something quickly on the forums if needed. If this game blows me away I might pick it up. There are a few old games that I'd like to have guides for now.

I don't know, for me it makes good reading material if I'm not at the game. Work, away from home, bathroom time, etc.

Essentially I love game guides, cause alot of time, I go to websites, and just want a map, or picture showing me how some silly puzzle works, and I won't get it.

Game guides are dumbed down, so they are easy to read. Online forums, generally are written by gamers who sometimes just whiz through a level and I get about two sentences on a eight level dungeon.

Plus gamers usually take a week to get up decent guides (Game banshee will take 2-3 weeks). Plus there is always that moment when the game store guy says do I want it for XX% off with my game, and then that night I am stuck in a dungeon corridor unable to find where the quest is, and wishing I bought it.

Ive ordered it but only because Im obsessed with this game - already ordered the Collectors Edition, a T-Short and the Pride Demon Lithograph (and read Stolen Throne twice and am working on The Calling!). This guide contains 100 pages of artwork, background info in the game etc. And while I dont intend to spoil myself, the min-maxing information may become useful on my second or third go on nightmare when all the fine details of character development may become important!

I'm gonna get the guide but primarily because the CE on amazon is so cheap. /buy

Anyways, I usually don't buy guides unless it's a game I love

Which is completely unintentional, I assure you. I never ran into him myself in BG, though I've heard good things about him. I did, however, unintentionally use his avatar for my Bhaalspwan half-elf ranger for YEARS until I learned it belonged to a party member. So, maybe there's some subconscious influence in there on my part.

I'm tempted to get the CE guide just for the dev signatures on the cover but I'm not really into guides as others have said

I'm generally not one to use a guide, but beings that Amazon has the CE Guide discounted, and the guide contains additional lore about the DA:O Universe, I think I may have to pick one up.

Prima guides are normally pretty good, so yeah I'm getting this one - I have the CE on pre-order.

Save your money and go to GameFAQS instead.

Some people prefer reading a physical book-style guide rather than browsing a website. Generally I'll read a guide after I've completed a game to see what I missed, although there's quite a bit of lore in this guide so I'll definitely read that part first.
