Because that's my experience. Just interacting in the same way everyone
else does is enough to get the harrassment started.
I'm referring to the stereotypically obnoxious ones that act as if they deserve special treatment because they are in the minority. You probably know the type. It's a very common social phenomenon.

There is nothing wrong with it, and I never implied or stated that there was. It's just not necessary.

I've
never really heard harassment on ME3's MP either, and I suspect in
other games, the harassment is basically the same level as what guys
get, they just go with insults directed at women rather than just
calling everyone a ****. Since the insults are more specific to women,
and women are more rare, the feeling is that they're being harassed for
being a chick rather than just because xbox live makes a surprising
number of people act like psychopaths.
I am largely in agreement with them,
which makes the fact that they're getting their collective panties in a
bunch (inb4 someone calls me sexist) all the more hilarious.
I've never seen any sexual harassment in ME 3 either, and in my expericence with other PvP shooters
the people who troll women for being women are the same people who
troll everyone else for being a noob, bad at the game, or whatever other
insults they think will get a negative reply.
