Those of you wondering what cross-classes would look like just look at ME. Adept-mage Soldier-warrior Engineer-rogue Vanguard-mage/warrior Sentinel-mage/rogue Infiltrator-warrior/rogue.

That is quite an uncoventional comparison, but a very good one. In some respects biotics, techs and combat are similar to wizards, rogues and warriors.

That's exactly what they did in Mass Effect, yes. ME has a lot less character customization and gameplay variety in general than DA, though.

That's because Soldier is just adrenaline and military equipment, tech is synthetic misc., and biotics are force and gravity manipulation. But Dragon Age offered many different options for each weapon alone. I'd like to have a rogue-mage that goes stealth and surprises everyone with a fireball from a dark corner.

Would be cool.

Multiclassing? I'm not sure how I feel about this.

I rather prefer something they did in SWTOR. you get a baseline char like the rogue who has 4 talent trees. A Specialization is also chosen from the start like:
-Shadow
-Duelist
-Twilight blade ( my own brainchild. Its their to give a rogue something akin to mage-rogue hybrids)
Each specialization has its own 3 talent trees and bonusses as well.
