One thing about this game that slightly irritates me...

I hate the fact that certian people (the Dwarves and Arvanus, for example) discount the Chantry's version of how the Blight/Archdemons/Darkspawn came to be, but when you ask if they have any other ideas, they say something like "it's religous dogma, it's wrong." Not all religous dogma is wrong (for example, the ban on eating "dirty" animals, like pigs, was valid. Until about 40 years ago, pigs were carriers of a lot of diseases.

Well, I for instance already know pig wasn't the best meat to eat, even when it's cooked and prepared. But however, I suppose in this game you aren't giving much choice giving counter arguments, as for roleplaying, i will try to ****** off every chantry priest [ Dalish. ]. Shale is amazing to listen too about things as religon.

That's a bit of an odd example you use there. That's a pretty obvious use of religion as a means of control, not for a particular spiritual purpose besides not getting sick. It obviously did a lot of good, and averted disease, but there's nothing spiritual about it. Just some head religious honcho did the math and realised pig-eaters/herders got sick very often and put in some doctrine to keep people away from it.

I think its one thing to believe in an idea because its spiritually comforting, but another to simply obey it because its a means of protecting the populace. But hey, I guess that applies to the Chantry thing. Don't go trying to invade the kingdom of God, or you might **** everything up.

Stupid thread. Maybe you're right. The Dwarves and Arvanus might be wrong. Lots of people are wrong all the time. Why does this bother you?

because they say the Chantry is wrong, but they can't come up with anything. If the Chantry is wrong, atleast please explain your reasoning WHY it's wrong....

Welcome to real life? Try arguing that point to an atheist, or arguing that Jesus turning water into wine is impossible to a devout Christian.

Logic and belief rarely go hand in hand.

Isn't believing (in a religious way) in general not something which has to be proven right or wrong? If no one has real proof of anything, why would you believe the story?

On a side note, taking Oghren with you to the ashes quest is interesting.

I am SO glad so many details like this about the Dragon Age setting were kept ambiguous and unresolved. Keep the mystique!!!!

If I wanted a set known pantheon with dossiers of each deity explaining in detail their ambitions, powers, and moral inclinations, then I'd play another Forgotten Realms game.

I AM an atheist, but I have read the bible, and think it has good rules to live by, I just don't buy the whole "god" thing. And I'm willing to accept biblical teachings if there's nothing better.
