  Uh okay...  You realize this happened after the Germans had all their logistic chains severed right?  Plus the germans did not have Biotic Powers and could not revive fallen soilders by smashng the A button...  I think trying to bring in anything but a few highly limited small squad tactics into this game is a bit of a stretch don't you?  I mean I can't even call in arty or air support. 


To all of you who compare fbw/glacier camping with real life warfare. This is what happens in reality, when one side just defends passively.

Now direct your sarcasm to guys who first brought real life examples and compared them to camping in a video game.


Excuse me but who produced a map of a real battle in WW2 and compared it to this game and then tries to justify it as "This is what happens in reality. when..."   So you counter their illogical and incorrect premise with your own and then get mad when someone points it out?  SHEESH...  As I said... "I think trying to bring in anything but a few highly limited small squad tactics into this game is a bit of a stretch don't you?"


Nope, my example is logical while theirs is not.


Please read my first response; as this states the flaw in using your example to counter the original premise.
I'm not trying to anagonize you.  Your counter to the argument has no relevance and is not a logical answer as you and the originator of the statement both tried to apply "real life tactics" to this game...

M'kay. Tell me what you understand by "small squad tactics" and why passive defense can't be applied to small squads.

I got my demo yesterday and I do just that...

I place Pylo the Pylon in a part of the map, and make it my starting point while I race around the map picking grenades in a circle track towards my starting point,  is awesome!!!!

yes the Pylon bonus towards weapon/power damage and the extra shields are mostly wasted, but my pylon is my fall back base, that strategy is much better than the usual lets wait until all the enemies reach us and then unleash the lead strategy.


Having a place to fall back while you grind the enemies is true commando play, only boy scouts sit by the fire and wait the bears

I wouldn't mind chillin by the fire, but nobody ever brings the Marshmallows. EVER. It's just...how can you possibly have a camp fire with no marshmallows?

As for the first, yes, safer. Focus fire still works pretty darn well at killing Banshees not to mention the 20 rockets you have. If people die to a Banshee, they're not getting rezed, so I don't know what that last bit means.

Glacier control room camping has no cover beyond the sides of the room. I don't think Bioware fixing that will do anything.


control room does glitch.... i posted it before... people hug the wall that is left of the door. banshees will not come into the room.  They also do this so the geth pyros dont go in the room as well and fire harmlessly into the wall. 

thus all the lil ballerina biotic waves going thru the wall can kill the banshees/pyro's without one of them stepping foot into the room

Funny in real life soldiers camp. They dont run around in the open. Same in BF3, MW, etc. Only in this game do you run across the occasional thread where someone demands everyone run out in the open and get popped.

Sure it is easy to run around in the open when you got a well coordinated team. I do non-farm plat games with my friends (or people that at least talk on mics). but when you are dealing with PUGS maps like FBW will always be #1 because everyone knows their role. No communication needed

In an ideal world. Everyone would bring consumables and communicate. But if I cant get online with my boys and I need some credits for gels and such then I might have to farm. Dont hate the players; hate the game. Blame bioware

Don't like it? Who cares even on the last days of this game everyone will still be farming their butts off due to the horrible store system

Nah. Don't think that'll happen. It's like insta-kill and stairs. Not that heinous a crime.

You can't make other players play the way you want. If you don't like getting stuck with campers then leave. Create a private match with your friends. Sometimes setting up a "base" that you can fall back to is the right solution. Ya, FBW is a chronic campers paradise. If they camp there, head out on your own and have a blast. You have a safe spot to fall back to. Thats what I like to do.

Only character that I think warrants camping or staying in one spot more is the demolisher. I'll find a good spot with some good LOS, drop a pylon and get my sniper and grenades ready. Pick off a bunch of enemies then head to another location and kill some more.

Real warfare almost never has soldiers running around in the open. Stealth, superior firepower, and strategic deployment wins battles.

Who are you to say who the "good" players are? There is no defination of who is great or not, it's just a bunch of people sitting in front of their tv (or pc) playing a video game. People will play however they want and it's not up to anybody to judge. Don't have a lot of characters/weapons? Why not farm in firebase white for some creds? Yes it's easy credits but if that's what someone wants to do than it's totally up to them. It doesn't make them a bad player at all.

What?  I never said that...  What I said was : "I think trying to bring in anything but a few highly limited small squad tactics into this game is a bit of a stretch don't you?"

Look at the "classic" small squad..  It comprises of a combined squad squad consisting of : 1. An RPG team. 2. A fire team. 3. A sniper team...

Each element can support the following actions. 1. Assault.  2. Interim or Entrenchment.  3.  Defensive ( Think when isolated or "cut off:"...

Clearly the game scenario suggests the #2 appraoch is the most resonable. Thanks to this forum and all the add on "guides. wiki's...etc. as you have maps which designate the points of enemie insertion...

 A team can choose option one as the most reasonable if they plan on assaulting the spawn points, but then the "timing" of insertion comes into play as you can easily be flanked while trying to assault the first wave. 

As I said; only "highly limited small squad tactics" have any correlation to the game...

Here's a little insight for all the "glitch" and all the "banning" followers out there...

Do you think BW should apply the limited resources available to fixing all this credit mining and ini issues?
OR applying the same filters to limit the total amount of available credits,experiece points etc... per game?

I have been dealing with "digit heads,coders,programmers,tool makers,software designers et al," for over 30 years now...  Done a fair bit of coding myself in those years as well... 

Nothing makes a designer madder than a red hornet....  Than the user figuring out a way to bypass their intent...
Get that?  Their "intent" as in "I never thought they would use it that way" intent. 

In the end it becomes an issue for the tool maker to apply some filtering and limit the totals for each completetion period...
Accepting anything else as a user community is letting the coder's feelings get in the way of applying the reources where it is most effective and solving a multi platform algorithm to limit the total credit/points issue per game based on difficulty ratings....

Come on guys...  BW can filter individual games and comb through the cheater reports as well!!!  Think about all the filtering and data mining taking place for this.
What would you rather see???  More gamers playing or more gamers banned??? 

Wake up BW: "users/gamers/players" are just as smart as you are...  Leave a whole and it will be exploited...  Fix the wholes and stop going after the guys that figured out how to work around your "intent"...

 I will never understand the idea of "the only way to play a game is to run around!"  This really is the dumbest strategy to imply and also the worst logic.  The idea of the game is to survive and win, running around when you have mulitiple enemies that have better positions than you seems...counter-productive to said end goal.  Here are the pros to both sides as i see them: "Campers"- Defendable positions, strategic positioning in choke points and such, higher survival odds, constant cover.  To "Run & Gunners"- Running from cover to cover can prevent being trapped in a bad situation, can create flanking oppertunities.

The best team has a mix of the two, people to draw the enemy in and squadmates that can get behind and flank.  In a game like this both sides need the other to increase the survival odds

As a sniper, you more or less have to camp occassionaly (at least), and FB Dagger is a great map to do that in. A sniper or two gives cover fire while the other 2 members take out the ones you can't get too. When done well, you'll slaughter most of the enemies before they can even try and surround you.

The OP is the same type of player who picks lvl 20 geth infiltrator with a pirahna and then after the match criticizes the scores of the rest of the team.
