Uh okay... You realize this happened after the Germans had all their logistic chains severed right? Plus the germans did not have Biotic Powers and could not revive fallen soilders by smashng the A button... I think trying to bring in anything but a few highly limited small squad tactics into this game is a bit of a stretch don't you? I mean I can't even call in arty or air support.Star fury wrote...

Can't read Russian! Is this a map of the German invasion or the Russian break out?
This map shows Soviet counter-offensive at Stalingrad in 1942, when hundreds of thousands Germans were encircled and annihilated near and in Stalingrad.
To all of you who compare fbw/glacier camping with real life warfare. This is what happens in reality, when one side just defends passively.
These lines are written three times on this page only, one time on previous page. You can't read English too?
Now direct your sarcasm to guys who first brought real life examples and compared them to camping in a video game.
Excuse me but who produced a map of a real battle in WW2 and compared it to this game and then tries to justify it as "This is what happens in reality. when..." So you counter their illogical and incorrect premise with your own and then get mad when someone points it out? SHEESH... As I said... "I think trying to bring in anything but a few highly limited small squad tactics into this game is a bit of a stretch don't you?"
Nope, my example is logical while theirs is not.
Please read my first response; as this states the flaw in using your example to counter the original premise.
I'm not trying to anagonize you. Your counter to the argument has no relevance and is not a logical answer as you and the originator of the statement both tried to apply "real life tactics" to this game...
Again.... "I think trying to bring in anything but a few highly limited small squad tactics into this game is a bit of a stretch don't you?"
M'kay. Tell me what you understand by "small squad tactics" and why passive defense can't be applied to small squads.
Look at the "classic" small squad.. It comprises of a combined squad squad consisting of : 1. An RPG team. 2. A fire team. 3. A sniper team...
Each element can support the following actions. 1. Assault. 2. Interim or Entrenchment. 3. Defensive ( Think when isolated or "cut off:"...
Clearly the game scenario suggests the #2 appraoch is the most resonable. Thanks to this forum and all the add on "guides. wiki's...etc. as you have maps which designate the points of enemie insertion...
A team can choose option one as the most reasonable if they plan on assaulting the spawn points, but then the "timing" of insertion comes into play as you can easily be flanked while trying to assault the first wave.
As I said; only "highly limited small squad tactics" have any correlation to the game...
Agreed?
It's only your opinion that defensive approach is the best in game. With bad players I DO agree it's the only option to at least finish the match and not wipe. That's why I wrote campers on fbw/glacier = bad players.

Very good advice actually. I should try next time when I get fbw instead of quitting.

If they can't adjust to a few enemies spawning behind them they don't deserve to get credits anyway. All you are doing is making better farmers....lol.

this. i've found it difficult to run around with a Demolisher and support the team, but i did run around last night on my first Platinum match. had to. as soon as the objective popped up, we all moved to it. was a great match with randoms. i was very surprised.GlassElephant wrote...

Don't lie to yourself, I've seen enough farming wipes to know that most of the farmers belong to bronze.

Camping in one spot like glue, even when overrun or ignoring objectives I fully endorse complaining about, but these repeated posts whinging about tactically using certain maps environments to aid your chances of winning are just weird. What are you here to try and prove?

When I insist people don't camp it is not based on some misguided sense of honour. It is due to the fact that I just don't want to be stuck hugging the same chest-high wall for 30+ minutes when the game's mechanics allow for much more vivid, deeper combat. Not to mention that some of the maps are beautiful, let's go see them! When your sat on your heels the whole mission the game's pacing can slow to a complete halt. I've ate dinner whilst camping, I mean if your not involved why do it?
This is only an issue worth raising of course because so many lack the confidence to get stuck in on higher difficulties. However insistent on playing them, they adopt some boring-ass tactic to eventually get the job done. Even if you enjoy playing like this, there is no way you can honestly tell me it's more exciting than charging the map. They simply offer less stimulation, both actively and visually. Yet it is those more capeable who are forced to adapt to an overly simple playstyle because those less capeable are unable to do the same. If we simply "leave", we lose our equipment, we lose out everytime and it is fustrating.
I'm not saying that if you camp you can't play Gold. But I will argue that it is only fair to be more adaptable.

Of course, character choice can change my play style personally. Krogan, run around nutting everything in sight just because it's stupendous fun. Even a Vorcha with a flamer/Particle rifle. Fire the rifle then burn them while it recharges. Salarians and Drell though... no, I'd sooner play it safe with them. Anything else, somewhere in between. Pressure the enemy and cover to recover when needed.
Anyway, I let people play how they want. It is their choice really. Some may not have the skill or confidence to go al out attack.

Oh they know when the fun about end when they finish drinking their billy tea and eating their damper. When they come out at level 11 to be whisked (if that is the right word) away by the drop ship.
