Trying to find a conversion mod for Icewind Dale:

All i found were:
-Icewind Gate II (Bg2 in IWD2)
-Icewind Dale Tutu (IWD in IWD2) Which appears to be nowhere near complete.
-Icewind Dale in BG2: which appears to be complete (i think) but methinks i can't use it given the fact i have BGT installed.
Does anyone know any that conversion mods which are complete that i can use at all? <_<
Or by some strange miracle is BGT compatible with the IWD in BG2 thing (which i doubt).
Sad how IWD seems to be the neglected sister to BG.

I think i'm too attached to the gameplay style of BG2 to do that.
If anything i just want to be able to play IWD1 in either BG2 (as long as it is compatible with BGT) or even in IWD2 (that works and is finished).
Even better if anything could change IWD2 to be played in BG2 as well that would be genius (but these mods would take ages).
Just hope there are teams of modders who still work on this thing.

BGT should be okay if it uses the BG2 engine.
IWD2 is not BG2, I too prefer the style of the latter.
GemRB is probably the way to go for your wish list though it is still v0.7...

With Heart of Winter & patch installed there are extra screen resolutions, a key to highlight containers/doors and a few mods such as widescreen and tweaks. What did you want from a conversion?

Icewind dale in BG2 mainly (so i can dual-wield, use kits and even use better avatars and graphics)
The thing about IWD2 is that i find third edition in infinity engine a lot harder; although the diversity of multi-classes is fun (paladin/mages... Ranger/Rogues...). I would be happy with a working IWD inside IWD2 conversion as to keep it as a trilogy, thought IWD2 itself had many flaws (it tends perform a lot worse than BG and many gameplay aspects i wasn't keen on (heal having casting time of 1 and also a death spell which doesn't work half the time).
I also find the graphics of BG2 a lot easier on my laptop (they are less flashy unlike in IWD). However as mentioned before it probably wouldn't be compatible alongside BGT.
If someone made a conversion from IWD2 into BG2 then i would be all for it (a second edition version of IWD2 would be fun indeed). If i had all the icewind dales and baldur's gate in one game then that would be absolute perfection.
I don't have a clue if the people working on the IWD -> IWD2 conversion are still working on it; last official update was 2009, but nothing else.
In a nutshel:
Everything in BG2 = perfection (but much less realistic so i wouldn't want anyone to have to spend the effort on something that would be too much to manage (due to all the changes)
IWD in IWD2 = Good and most realistic for me to use. <-- most ideal.
IWD in BG2 = Better than IWD in IWD2 due to performance and gameplay, but very unlikely with BGT.

GemRB would probably help with avatars/graphics. I tried it briefly with BG and to me it felt more like Planescape Torment (larger avatars, motion, etc). Also a lot of work still to do from what I read, and no multiplayer support if that is important to you.Biotic_Warlock wrote...

There is mention here that IWD didn't feature dual wielding due to time constraints and that rangers get an extra attack with appropriate weapons to compensate. I think you'll have to wait for BGEE to arrive and hope it delivers what you have said above, and that they are then able to do the same for other games including IWD (and Planescape Torment).
My Paladin vote is for Paladin/sorcerer rather than mage as charisma benefits both and intelligence isn't required, or Paladin/Monk (problem here is wisdom, charisma, strength, dexterity and constitution are all important). Caveat - I can remember limitations on not being able to add paladin levels after switching, can't remember if the xp penalties result in a lower level cap or just taking longer to get to the same cap.The thing about IWD2 is that i find third edition in infinity engine a lot harder; although the diversity of multi-classes is fun (paladin/mages...

In IWD2 Paladins have restricted multi-class ability
It's either mage, cleric or fighter (dependign on the paladin kit chosen).
If you choose any other class as second you cannot ever level in pally again.

GemRB is, in real terms, around v0.95 for BG2. I am using Gem to play through BG2, I occasionally need to console in key npcs but apart from that it is quite good.
Apparently there is work to be done on the IWD2 implementation, I don't know how much needs doing.
Multiplayer aspect has not been properly started yet.
